Gun Control Amendment to Cybersecurity Act
Democratic senators have offered an amendment to the cybersecurity bill that would limit the purchase of high capacity gun magazines for some consumers.
Shortly after the Cybersecurity Act gained Senate approval to proceed to filing proposed amendments and a vote next week, Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.), a sponsor of the gun control amendment, came to the floor to defend the idea of implementing some “reasonable” gun control measures.
The amendment was sponsored by Democratic Sens. Frank Lautenberg (N.J.), Barbara Boxer (Calif.), Jack Reed (R.I.), Bob Menendez (N.J.), Kirsten Gillibrand (N.Y.), Schumer and Dianne Feinstein (Calif.). S.A. 2575 would make it illegal to transfer or possess large capacity feeding devices such as gun magazines, belts, feed stripes and drums of more than 10 rounds of ammunition with the exception of .22 caliber rim fire ammunition.

I wrote the following to Senators Webb and Warner today and strongly recommend that everyone on the forum write also:
I learned today that Senator Schumer and others have introduced an amendment to SA 2575 Cybersecurity Act, which would make it illegal to transfer or possess large capacity feeding devices such as gun magazines, belts, feed stripes and drums of more than 10 rounds of ammunition with the exception of .22 caliber rim fire ammunition. I strongly urge you to vote against this amendment as I consider it a direct assault on my right to adequately defend my family, my right to self defense, and my Second Amendment rights. This shameless attempt to sneak past legislation capitalizing on the Aurora incident by known anti-Second Amendment proponents is despicable and seen for what it really is.

Email sent me as well. IIRC the first AWB was swept in as an amendment to some other bill as well.

Schumer is without a doubt one of the biggest hyprocrites in the Senate today...He has a Concealed Gun Permit himself and I;d wager he has high cap mags for it too..... AN elitist jackass who thinks he and his peers are worthy of protection but the rest of us aren;t.... In addition several other anti gun idiots like Feinstein and Lautenburg jumped on the bus with him.. More social pariah''s that need to be retired to the Home for old pinhead politicians...As usual we are still having to fight these jerk offs almost daily as they attempt to take away from us the God given right to arm ourselves for self defense and defense of the country,Downright disgusting these kind of morons ever get elected///

Re: Gun Control Amendment to Cybersecurity Act
They will never quit and thats why we must never quit. There are many gun groups as you already know, that fight this fight on the front lines every day. What we can do is write our legislators and support one or more of these groups if we can. There is alot of truth in the old saying " there is strength in numbers" its important that no matter which group you decide to support that we are all of the same mind with the same purpose. I have seen it many times that a person will choose one group or another and then put down the others for one reason or another. This is very damaging to the cause. There are things we can find about any of these gun groups that we don't like but, what we don't need to do is to put down or point out all the negatives about one group or the other. People who are on the fence about joining one are turned away by this,I have seen it first hand many times. "Well, I was thinking about joining the (you name it) but after hearing all the negative talk here or there I have decided against it. WE can have our differences of opinon respectfully, but we have to stand together if we want to win this fight.VBshooter wrote:Schumer is without a doubt one of the biggest hyprocrites in the Senate today...He has a Concealed Gun Permit himself and I;d wager he has high cap mags for it too..... It never ceases to amaze me how Congress can put riders on bills that are not related to the bill. Thousands of pieces of good legislation are killed because of this. If a lawmaker wants a something implemented, he should draft a bill and send it through committee rather than bypassing the process and amending an already existing bill.

I agree. Its annoying on both sides! Though, admittedly, if it benefits me its less annoying. But that's politics, right?Hokieman1987 wrote:It never ceases to amaze me how Congress can put riders on bills that are not related to the bill. Re: Gun Control Amendment to Cybersecurity Act
This is a very old and much debated topic and nothing will be accomplished in the "talk" stage.
I also realize I am probably "preaching to the choir"... but anyway....
Define it as you may, gun registration and/or the regulation of ammunition purchases is simply the governments means to identify all legal owners of firearms in America... background checks do the same for all legal purchasers... gun laws as a package also only target the legal... the basic problem is of course.... only the legal citizens are included.
When the sht hits the fan... and you can rest assured that it will, sometime in the future... the only guns that will be removed, taken away, confiscated and the only citizens that will be targeted in whatever capacity... are again... the legally registered firearm owners of America.
The unregistered weapons are the only ones that may have a slight chance of remaining in your personal hands and may actually be the only means of standing up against whatever or whomever comes at you, be it government or personal.
We all wish to remain honest, upstanding and legal... keep all this in mind the next time you plunk down that hard earned cash for that Glock... fill out the paperwork with your SS number and all personal information and run that $2 state police background check.... you are now in the database for whatever purpose those in control may decide to do with it.... and when they knock on your door... or the door of your grandchildren.... smile and turn them over..."you are now a registered member of the pig inside the fence"
I am not and never have been a conspiracy person.... I am a realist.... does the word frustrated come to mind.....
