We cannot allow this to come to fruition...."A lot of gun owners would agree that AK-47s belong in the hands of soldiers, not in the hands of criminals -- that they belong on the battlefield of war, not on the streets of our cities," the president, who has called for reimposing the Assault Weapons Ban, said in a speech to the National Urban League.

Re: Jackass in Chief speaks against guns
You really think he's qualified to be a janitor? He has no real job experience! I think you’re insulting the many knowledgeable, experienced, hard-working janitors out there!

Well, I am a gun owner, and I think the restrictions are TOO MANY!
He's an idiot. Flat out... He probably doesn't KNOW any REAL gun owners... Just the "limo liberals" who own an expensive double barrel shotgun.
Bluntly? Frakin' hate the long legged liar in chief.

The majority of the public does not support an "assault" weapons ban, so good luck to him.

I want him to keep it up because those independents who are gun owners will have their reason to not choose the clown next time.

Re: Jackass in Chief speaks against guns
Curious given our shooter in Aurora met all of the usual gun grabber prohibitons..passed the checks and bought from an FFL (and not those evil private sellers).
In fact I must admit I was wrong, I really didn't believe Obama would make any move on guns since he has not done so at all, but, here it comes.
Now, since its up to Congress I don't think we'll be seeing the AWB come back, but if it did, he'd sign it, and things would get amusing quickly.
The only reason I don't own an AK-47 is not because I believe its for the military only, but because I've heard finding a quality import at a good price is damned near impossible.
When I decide to buy one I will, and like the tens of thousands of other AK's and AR's in private hands it will never be used in a massacre.
I'm starting to wonder if these spree shooters are some Manchurian candidates or something to drum up anti gun owner sentiment. They seem to pop out of nowehere around elections.
And I'm usually the guy who thinks the conspriacy is there is no conspriacy.

White House plays down prospect of new gun laws
The White House signaled Thursday that President Barack Obama would not be seeking new gun control laws in the aftermath of the mass shooting at a movie theater in Aurora, Colorado. But press secretary Jay Carney said Obama would try to find ways to work around the "stalemate" in Congress to keep firearms out of the wrong hands.
During a brief photo-op with his Cabinet, Obama himself sidestepped a reporter's question about how he would proceed without seeking new legislation.
"I'm sure we'll have more opportunity to talk about this," the president said.
Obama had called late Wednesday for tighter background checks to keep guns out of the hands of criminals and the mentally ill. He called for "common sense" and repeated his support for the lapsed Assault Weapons Ban.
But he also acknowledged the difficult politics of the issue — especially in an election year — and asserted that he was a believer in individual gun rights.

Looks like we know what the main target is now: magazines. Schumer/Lautenberg amendment to cybersecurity bill to ban possession, transfer of magazines that hold more than ten rounds. The bill is scheduled for debate and a vote next week. Knowing the Senate, I wouldn't bet against it. Will it pass the House? Probably not, but do you really trust Boehner and Cantor not to screw us so they can seem more "moderate"?
