Been meaning to get one of these for a coon's age.
I found out those double-barreled 1911s won't be available until the fall, and none of the 1911s I've got ordered have gotten here on time (and still haven't showed up), so I had to have a fix before I went into some kind of withdrawl seizure. Got a pretty good deal. Ink pen by side for scale. It's a right smart bigger than I expected, and it's heavy as a lawyer's soul. Next pretty Saturday I ain't busy is going to be interesting. Now I can go back to 1911s.................

Nice. I've been thinking of picking one up in .44Mag recently.

If you do get one in .44, save yourself some money and only buy ammo rated at 1180fps or more... the less powerful .44 Mag rounds (and doesn't THAT sound like an oxymoron?) won't cycle the slide reliably, or at all.gunderwood wrote:Nice. I've been thinking of picking one up in .44Mag recently.

How'd you know? Got an ankle holster ordered for it. It comes with a cane, don't you know.
I hear the only shoulder holster ever made for one of them was a custom order from Dolly Parton.

As a matter of fact, I once said on this very forum that I if I ever got a .50AE Desert Eagle I was gonna get one of those gold ones just in case I ever got into the pimpin' trade. But I ain't gettin any younger, the finish I got was in stock with no wait, and the damn thing's too heavy to carry anyhow; so my plans to hang it on a gold chain around my neck and use it for pimp-bling are all shot to hades anyhow. Besides, there can't possibly be any future in pimpin' - - looks to me like the amateurs these days must surely have put the pros out of business by giving away what they'd been selling.
I did fire it Saturday, but I had forgotten my hearing protection, and so quit on one magazine. I was reasonably accurate with it, but it definitely ain't the gun for anybody who's prone to limp-wrist. If you ain't adequately propped up and ready and/or are unaccustomed to handling larger-caliber pistols, it's a good way to bust your wrist and your eardrum and maybe even get a large pump-knot twixt your eyeballs all at the same time. In other words, 'bout what I expected. No buyer's remorse.

Dormin: What?
Me: How'd you like it?
Dormin: WHAT?
Me: HOW DID YOU LIKE IT?
Dormin: I'm sorry -- I can't hear you. I fired a magazine of .50 without hearing protection last weekend!
I was at a commercial gun range once in Va. Beach with my shipmates doing a yearly weapons qual firing CQB shotguns and even with foam earplugs and earmuffs over that, we could clearly hear a guy 6 stalls down firing off a Desert Eagle. Clearly.
Nice gun. I'm envious.

I'll let you know for sure after I've fired it with hearing protection. I might even use plugs AND earmuffs, like I do with my .50BMG. It ain't near as loud as the Bushmaster, but the muzzle is a damnsight closer to you. But I think it'll be OK. Reckon it sure enough ought to clear a few lanes on either side if I ever fired it at a public range. I do all of my shooting on an old strip job. When we came out from firing the Desert Eagle, the farmer down at the mouth of the hollow stopped us and asked us if we'd been shooting or "puttin' off shots" (blasting).

Firing outdoors will certainly lessen the sound to some degree. The farmer might think you brought some tannerite with you this time. I'm curious how much she kicks. I was talking to a fella the other day who said it wasn't that bad ... compared to a Taurus Raging Judge (Casull). I would've thought the .50 would've been worse than a casull round, but the DE might be heavier. sooooo jealous! I spend my free time watching youtube videos of the desert 50. Funny stuff, especially of people getting slapped in the face.

Recoil is considerable but managable. If you don't consciously hold 'er down, she will go muzzle up on you.

Looks real nice. Never had a need for one but I always wanted one just because.
Looks like a fun gun to play with and what would have happened if Dirty Harry was packing a DE?
