Congratulations and Thank You! Congratulations for both recognizing the responsibility of defending yourself and others, and for meeting the requirements for CC. Thank you (And I mean this more than you know) for putting another weapon in the hands of the Good Guys. Everyone accepts the fact that crooks are going to carry firearms as a means to take the upper hand in any conflict. That you have decided to level the playing field in the most significant way you can speaks volumes about you.

FWIW, I really like my S&W 642 (Airweight Centennial J-frame) .38 special. You can carry it any way you like, even in your pocket.804blessedsoul wrote:...intend to get smaller hg for cc...still debating on the px-4 sc .40 or a .38 special for cc..confused right now ::signs::..

Re: WooHoo!!!!
Brass and nickel are the ones you want to collect. Others made from things like copper or bimetal arent suitable. You can generally tell the difference. Maybe VAhunter and I can show you some examples one day. Next time you are on the range look around and try to find some of these other casings like Wolf so you see what they look like as they are not reloadable.804blessedsoul wrote:^lol..guess you can say that..once I start collecting some brass I will start reloading..btw is it certain shells that can be reloaded or all?
The only others I can think of that you cannot reload are the shotshells made by Speer and CCI (others too maybe) for handguns. I think those might be an aluminum alloy.
Anyway, stick with brass and nickel and you'll be fine.

Re: WooHoo!!!!
^^Don't forget Berdan vs. Boxer primed for reloading. Although I see that it may be possible to convert berdan to make it easier to prime. Typically berdan is from Europe, boxer is from the U.S.

MSRP from Smith & Wesson is $600.00 for the version in the picture (model 642). I called a couple of the gun stores that I have purchased from before, to see what the real price was. Dances Sporting Goods in Colonial Heights quoted me $499.99. With the purchase, they also offer a free handgun class that can be used toward getting your CHP (but you already have that

This should be a start. If you're not in this part of the state, call around to a few of your local gun stores to see what they have and what the price is locally. Then go visit so you can handle one and see if it will suit your needs.
