Outer Banks Shooting Range

Post by newdovo »

Hey Folks,
Back in February, and again this summer, I visited the Dare County Shooting Range. For the summer visit, as we were on vacation, I was able to visit during the week when it was not busy. Took the kids, and we had a lot of fun.
When I went in February, they told me "If you come here on Saturday, show up early, because the High School is here after 11:00." First time I've heard that! Their scheduled events also include cowboy events and skeet shoots.
They're inland at Manns Harbor, a short drive west over the bridge from Manteo/Roanoke Island.

Interesting to know about. Thanks for the info.

Looking at the web page, specifically the photo labeled "CONCEALED CARRY PERMIT CLASS OF 12 03/22/09" I see people with firearms in hand, at least one that appears to be pointing downrange (blue sweatshirt), and other folks (instructors?) standing between them and the target line. Most ranges don't allow hands on weapons when people are downrange. And these are supposedly folks in training.

I'm sure it was all legit, but that photo just stands out as odd.

Two things I can't believe:

1. That woman letting the bear cub get a closeup look and smell of just how tasty human flesh will be, and.....

2. That Virgil Lanning shot a 47 at his advanced age!
