ACTION ITEM

We need to tell our Delegates to OPPOSE the following bills:

SB 224, Senator Herring, changes Virginia law to make it easier for a person to have his gun rights taken away permanently for a MISDEMEANOR domestic violence conviction.

SB 4, Senator Stuart, Castle Doctrine could inadvertently weaken existing protections under common law.

SB 389, Senator Marsden, yet another attempt to ban air guns on school property.

LEGISLATIVE UPDATE

Here is the status of the bills heard on Thursday night in Militia, Police, and Public Safety subcommittee #1:

SB 245, Senator Obenshain, protects your right to carry and transport a firearm during a declared emergency. VCDL STRONGLY SUPPORTS. Passed out of committee!

SB 554, Senator Favola, disarms a person while in the dwelling of the "victim", which could be the person's own home - all without due process. VCDL STRONGLY OPPOSES. Killed!

SB 563, Senator Ruff, clean up bill for the concealed carry code. VCDL STRONGLY SUPPORTS. Passed out of committee!

SB 573, Senator Carrico, allows Capitol Police to destroy guns in their possession if they choose to do so. VCDL IS NEUTRAL. Passed out of committee.

There are going to be quite a few gun bills voted on in the full Militia, Police, and Public Safety committee this morning starting at 9 AM:

SB 67, Senator Stanley, removes the option to fingerprint first-time CHP applicants as if they were criminals. VCDL STRONGLY SUPPORTS

SB 323, Senator Carrico, repeals One Handgun a Month. (House version already on its way to Governor's desk.) VCDL STRONGLY SUPPORTS

SB 245, Senator Obenshain, protects your right to carry and transport a firearm during a declared emergency. VCDL STRONGLY SUPPORTS

SB 429, Senator Ruff, removes having to enter duplicate information on state and federal forms when purchasing a gun. VCDL STRONGLY SUPPORTS

SB 563, Senator Ruff, clean up bill for the concealed carry code. VCDL STRONGLY SUPPORTS
