Sen. McEachin strikes again (or tries to, anyhow)

Post by TenchCoxe »

If you're not familiar with Virginia State Senator Don McEachin, you should be. He's a liberal pants-wetter who hasn't seen a government control or infringement of individual liberty he doesn't like.

His most recent offense against liberty is to introduce legislation that would outlaw the private sale of all firearms.

Now, I'm feeling pretty confident that this bill has less than a snowballs' chance in hell of getting any traction at all in the Virginia General Assembly, and is essentially D.O.A. I'm sure it's symbolic on his part. But it does at least clarify where liberty-loving individuals stand with this guy.

FYI, he also previously has spoken out against the initiative to privatize liquor sales in VA (because it's so obvious that selling booze is a legitimate core function of state government, I guess - but actually because of the revenue it generates). And he also has suggested imposing the retail sales and use tax on services. Currently, sales and use tax applies only to the sale of goods, and does not apply to services. Because, you know, we don't pay enough taxes already.

Yup he's a real tool for sure.. Gotta wonder how the hell he gets reelected along with several other wastes of space in the Assembly...

This legislation is just a waste of time and effort. The government seems to have the market cornered on wasting of time and effort these days.

VBshooter, it's not really hard to wonder how he gets elected. The majority of his constituents are one-issue voters, and that issue is something you have to be born with.

Hell I had that much figured out, didn't want to question his supporters brain power too much either,,takes a lot of thinking to hold that hand out instead of working for what they get.. He is one of those pinheads bitching the loudest about the Republicans having the upper hand this year but never even made a snivel last year when the Dems stacked the committees and proceeded to break a bunch of rules to kill the gun bills.. Hope he gets more than a few shoved up his ass this year for sure... :quiet:

Aside from his severe left lean, there may be some self interest there. If he could get that one passed, it would gen up more opportunites for chasin' ambulances. And also keep more of his favorite type of client safe from those 'wild-eyed, right wing, gun-totin' fanatics who think they have a constitutional right to defend their family and themselves.

Severe sarcasm intended!!!!

it's a direct attack on personal property rights and a poorly-veiled attack on the so-called gun show loophole.

(shakes head) Once more? He's NEVER in office when Lobby Day comes about!

But we're not his voters, check out his district, and you can see WHY he's constantly re-elected!

Sometimes? I wish districts were by COUNTY, not DRAWN!

Jerrymandering is a crime inflicted upon us by the courts complicit with the politicians.

It would be far better as you said to have the districts along organic population lines such as defined borders of a city or county.

If that happened of course, the DOJ would swoop in claiming racism and redraw everything.

Since the Supreme Court's already had multiple cases deciding that districts have to be drawn by population and not by geography (or anything else, except for racial similarity), it wouldn't even get out of committee.
