Monthly Purchase Limit
Monthly Purchase Limit
Hey everyone, new guy here. I have a question concerning the purchase dates when it comes to the 1 pistol per month limit. I ordered a gun online on 12/20/11. Due to the holiday season, I couldn't pick it up until 1/6/12. My question is, when it comes to the purchase limit, would the date I purchased the gun online count, or would the date I actually picked it up from the FFL count? I'm guessing date of pickup, but I wanted y'alls opinions. Thanks.
Re: Monthly Purchase Limit
An FFL would know for sure, and most would be more than happy to answer the question if you called them. But as far as I know, it is based on your approval date from your background check. And remember there is no silly 30 day wait on private purchases done between citizens of the great state of Virginia.

Re: Monthly Purchase Limit
It's the date you picked it up from the FFL. I know this for sure.

Re: Monthly Purchase Limit
The law is more properly worded as a "may not take possession of more than one in 30 days".
You may buy as many as you like, you just can only take one a month home

Re: Monthly Purchase Limit
Also, if you get your CHP, the 30 day requirement is nullified (does not apply to those with a CHP)
