Purchasing a handgun at the gunshow

Post by skeeterss0 »

I plan on going to the hampton gunshow tomorrow and hopefully getting a shotgun. If not I may settle for a handgun. I'm curious as to how to carry the gun to my car without it being considered concealed, since I don't have a chp. The shotgun i figure will be simple to carry in the open. My worry is the handgun. If it were in a bag or case wouldn't that be concealed? Thanks ahead for any clarification. I just want to make sure i cover my 6.

From the Virginia Code:

§ 18.2-308. Personal protection; carrying concealed weapons; when lawful to carry.

Jump down to subsection B:

5. Any person carrying such weapons between his place of abode and a place of purchase or repair, provided the weapons are unloaded and securely wrapped while being transported;

Hope that helps clarify things.

Additionally, from the same section of code:

"10. Any person who may lawfully possess a firearm and is carrying a handgun while in a personal, private motor vehicle or vessel and such handgun is secured in a container or compartment in the vehicle or vessel."
