This happened a few months ago, but I thought I would see if others have had a similar experience or have any thoughts about it.
I received my CHP a few months ago. A couple weeks afterward I was at my local gun store purchasing a handgun. When asked for ID, I gave them my driver's license and gave them my CHP as the second ID. For previous purchases I have used my voter ID card, but since my CHP was tucked behind my DL I gave them that. Filled out all the paperwork, etc. ...you know the drill. And it came back delayed.
When the guy initially came back to the counter and told me it was delayed, he asked if I had been delayed before & I told him "no." Another guy working the counter asked him if he marked it "concealed" and he had. Apparently there's a place at the bottom of one of the forms that the gun shop fills out that makes note of this? Why would this even be considered? BTW, I never made any kind of statement like "This is gonna be my new CC gun" or anything like that.
I know that the State Police keep up with CHPs and that it's tied to your DL; also, I wasn't within 30 days since my last purchase, although a CHP renders this point moot.
So whaddaya think? Was the fact that I handed him my CHP and his "concealed" marking on the form related to my delay? Can anyone shed some light on the "concealed" notation of the form?
