Peacemaker National Training Center

Post by hatchetman »

Spent the morning up at the Peacemaker range about 10 miles west of I 81 off exit 5 in Glengary, WV. Still very much under construction, but a lot of potential. Currently they have:

One combo trap and skeet range.

25 yard pistol range, 6 to 8 position, 20 ft. berm on 3 sides.

100 and 250 yard rifle range. 8 position, last 2 good for the 250 yard berm.

Two 50 deep by 30 yard wide action shooting areas. Bermed to 20 feet on 3 sides. Plan is to have more with steel, pop ups, etc.

1000 yard range. Shooters will first have to produce a 5 shot, 1 MOA target on the 100 yard range, work up a dope sheet, confirm premium ammo of the same weight is being used, and so on. I'm told it's the only privately owned 1000 yard range on the East coast.

Range opens for members on 9/15. The 25 yard pistol, 100/250 rifle ranges, which adjoin each other, will be open to the general public for $10 a day. I signed up to be an RSO, so perhaps I'll see you out there.

Just worked my first RSO shift there today. They haven't advertised much so we only had a couple dozen shoots at the public range over the course of the day. Fine by me as I got to run about 200 rounds through my pistol, and about 100 rounds through my AR at 25, 100, and 250 yards. My favorite kind of "work."

I visited this range to watch the 3Gun Nationals bracket they hosted November 13, 2011. looks like it could be a premier facility. I will definitely visit it as a customer in the near future.
