3 gun matches?
3 gun matches?
I just recently moved to the area and had the opportunity to try a 3 gun match where I lived before. Are they popular/do they have them here?

Re: 3 gun matches?
There used to be one held quarterly at Quantico but they stopped hosting the match last year. There are two multigun matches that I know about in Virginia, Black Creek 3-Gun and Summit Point has a quarterly multi-gun match. Summit Point only hosts them during warm weather, Black Creek is usually year round, but they're done for the calender year now. I shot at Black Creek on Saturday. Todd Jarrett was there, he shows up every once in a while.
Re: 3 gun matches?
I see Todd Jarrett fairly often at Black Creek's Steel Matches and Fredericksburg's USPSA matches. A few months ago, I shot in the same squad as Todd at Fredericksburg. I got some great pointers on how to analyse stages and a couple of tips to improve my shooting. He's a very down-to-earth guy for a multiple title world champion.jrswanson1 wrote: I shot at Black Creek on Saturday. Todd Jarrett was there, he shows up every once in a while.

Charles, My son and I started going to F'burg USPSA matches this summer. Hope to see you there next year.
Re: 3 gun matches?
I'll look forward to it Greg. I only made it two matches at Fredericksburg last year and about 3 at Black Creek. Hope to have a much better attendance record next year.

Also think about coming up to Summit Point. They put on great matches. The last one was 4 stages, 200 rounds !! I carry 5 mags (Single Stack) on my belt, plus the start mag in the gun, and had to grab the barney mag from my back pocket to finish a stage! Lots of fun.
Re: 3 gun matches?
Thanks Greg. I'll add Summit Point to my match schedule. I note from their Web site that they have multigun matches too.

Re: 3 gun matches?
Jim, I've only shot IDPA and Pistol Steel Matches at Black Creek and USPSA matches at Fredericksburg. Although I do have an AR, I've never shot it in competition. All my competition shooting the last couple of years has been limited to pistol. I may give multigun or 3-gun a try one of these days; but, I've got a whole lot room for improvement in my pistol shooting. So much so, that I'm not sure I'll get around to adding a rifle and shotgun.jrswanson1 wrote: BTW, have you shot the Black Creek 3-gun match yet? The first time I tried a shooting competition was here, I ran Heavy Metal with a CETME, a Pardner Pump shotgun, and a Kimber 1911 in 10mm. I have since gone TacOptics.
Shooting the big iron as you have does sound like fun though!

Re: 3 gun matches?
One of the guys at Black Creek drives down from Maryland for it. He used to shoot USPSA, and had a .38 Super race gun that's collecting dust right now. I know I need to get better at shooting pistol, but 3-Gun is three times the fun!Chasbo00 wrote:Jim, I've only shot IDPA and Pistol Steel Matches at Black Creek and USPSA matches at Fredericksburg. There's a new place that opened up in Glengary, WV. Peacemaker National Training Center. I've been a member there for a few months now, and the place is amazing.

They just did a 3-Gun National match there. I should have joined up this summer, but I got married instead. Oh well, she's worth it.crowell33 wrote:There's a new place that opened up in Glengary, WV.
