I believe the whole "sanctity of marriage" line is bullshit when you get idiots like Newt Gingrich carrying on affairs and cavorting about instead of standing by his wife. I believe it's bullshit when you have "pastors" and Congressmen conducting illicit homosexual affairs.

Since you brought it up, I am a firm believer in the sanctity of marriage. Those of us who TRULY believe that way don't support the type of behavior that you presented, either. Please do not discredit that belief because some jackass who claims that belief acts contrary to it.

And I am with you on all of that! However where I think we disagree is whether or not Zuccotti Park protestors are being persecuted for exercising their God given rights vs actions that are not God given rights. Freedom of speech, assembly, press, etc does not include the freedom to destroy public property, nor to squat and live on any public land you see fit. It does not mean you can create public health hazards by treating the sidewalk like a toilet. It does not mean you can disrupt (or attempt to disrupt) the train system of a city or try and keep people from going to work.

I agree that unfortunately, as with a lot of modern movements, you get the riff raft with no sense. There seem to be way too many slackers or FOTM types at the OWS protests.

Sanctity of marriage is most certainly a reason to refuse marriage to a couple. For example, my father is a pastor; he conducts interviews with couples who come to him to get married. Because he, also, believes in the sanctity of marriage, if he seriously doubts that the marriage will last, he will not officiate the marriage. As a Christian, myself, I have to agree with that stance. When the topic of a homosexual "marriage" pops up, I disagree with that, too. But, that has just as much to do with the definition of marriage, and that is a topic for another thread.

As to the hypocrisy, on the other hand, I'm with you 100% on that, my friend. Downright pisses me off, it does.

By the way, I don't think that I was quite aware of your own upcoming marriage. If I was, it must have slipped my mind. So, if I have not yet said it, congrats to ya. If I had, then congrats again, lol.
