Virginia Arms in Manassas

If you got a good deal or great service from a shop or range and you want to brag about them, here's the place to do it. Likewise, if you are unhappy about someone's service or feel like you've been ripped off, we want to know that too!

Virginia Arms in Manassas

Post by m4a1mustang »

I made my second firearm purchase at Virginia Arms today. I took the girlfriend so she could take a look at some carry pistols (she went into it thinking she'd want the Ruger LCP, but was really wanting to find something of the 9mm variety) and paid for her new Ruger LC9.

Pricing was competitive (essentially Buds' pricing + the average $30 FFL) and service, as always, was exemplary. Will certainly do business with VA Arms again... and hopefully soon!

An excellent gun shop...the only thing I can say negative about the place is that every time I go in there, my wallet comes out lighter. :packin:

Paid fair price for my Ruger GP100, but after buying a Mossberg 500 from them I did research and realized I could have gotten it online for much less. Still, they are good folks and spent plenty of time with me and my wife first time we went there, being new to guns - they did not talk down to us.

I think, for the most part, you can ultimately do better by buying online, however the difference is not that big % wise once you add in the average FFL fee.

The difference between the online price + the FFL fee and the local gun shop price is the "I really want this RIGHT NOW premium."

and if you want that local FFL around, you need to spend money there on occasion.

Agreed. I haven't found many shops yet that rip you off on gun prices. Most are very reasonable with only a small "want it now" premium. And by golly this is America and I want it NOW!

I couldn't agree with this more. You can typically find prices cheaper online for everything. However, the benefit of a local gun shop is huge for being able to run out and get ammo or other supplies when you can't ship overnight.

Unless it's saving a ton of bucks, I will always buy from the local shops to support their business!

I've purchased a few firearms from them. Two weeks ago I did a FTF transfer with them for a rifle from a Maryland resident. Picked up my PF9 while I was there. These fine folks run a good shop.

First experience with them was excellent. Informative and knowledgable. Must say I have been back too many times since. Onl-line shopping is OK, but there is nothing like walking in and getting a sincere greeting and instant service. Props to Virginia Arms!

I came to VA back in 2006 and bought my first gun from VA Arms in 2007. Great shop. Prices are fair. It's mostly a handgun and tactical rifle/shotgun type of place. If you are into shotgun sports like skeet/trap/sporting clays and in need of a sporting shotgun, you need to look elsewhere (in VA that means travel out of state or buy online).

One thing I noticed last time I tried to do a transfer is that they don't accept firearms from private party anymore. I was able to do private party transfer with them back in 2008 so I was caught off guard by this change of rule. Regardless I will still visit them and spend my $$$ at their shop.
