What are your guys hd gun?

My HD gun is my carry gun and it's always on my person, at home or out. If the shtf at home, I'll use that to fight my way back to the safe where the long guns are stored. I'm particularly fond of my Mossberg 590A1. 8+1 rounds of 12ga goodness.

My judge, the 6" barrel model in case I need to shoot at a distance. A shotgun I always thought was best for HD. The first shot is a defense .410 load, the rest are FMJ bonded .45s.

I heard some horror stories about the sights falling out, what is your experiance with it?

Open or Conceal Carry is either a Glock 22 (40SW) or Glock 20 (10mm). These are the guns I shoot best and feel comfortable with both on the pistol course and for carry. I use a serpa retention holster.

Home defense shotgun: Benelli M1-Super 90 tactical with some upgrades.

I may randomly carry my Colt lightweight commander in a custom leather holster (OC) as a primary or a secondary if I am in the mood. I CC it in a cross breed supertuck.

Wife carries SIG P226 (9mm) either on a holster or in her purse (which I do not like her to do).

why do you prefer a handgun for HD?

Where there was some trouble at the beginning concerning a missing spring that caused the cylinder not to turn but thanks to it's lifetime warrenty I got it fixed for pitance. Fires like a dream now. Never had a problem with the sights.

Also those stories were about the little fluorescent piece inside the end sight, not so much scary really as you can get it replaced or replace it yourself as they're cheap.

Don't believe half of what you read on the internet because it seems to me that people just love to hate Taurus because they are Brasillian made. Half of them claim it's not accurate which is a big duh because they're always firing the snub nosed version while my 6" model hits center easily at the same amount of yards. The rest just scoff at it's novelty, and to them I say yeah right that's why S&W copied it I guess!

i think that a .22 is a deadly round, given the shot placement is right. What ammo do you use? i put velocitors in my marlin

why do you prefer a handgun for HD?

There are a couple reasons it's my go-to.

1. I am well practiced with it. The Muscle memory and reflex is there.
2. It can be manipluated with one hand, allowing me to use the other hand to grab say a phone, flashlight, etc.
3. Short barrel means that wrapping corners is easier.
4. I have a 15-rnd extended magazine I keep for night time, so no issues with capacity.

There may be better options for HD, but I trust my life to my Glock during the day, so the same is true at night.

I've got an H&R 12 gauge pump protector, as well. That's my home defense. For the money, I like it. That said, after emptying the magazine, you will want to tighten the magazine cap. It starts unscrewing itself, which loosens the barrel tightness. The other thing is that if you blow through the rounds too quickly, the slide seems to catch on something inside, so you may want to be gentle with it.

I run Winchester Universal rounds through it, which I guess is bird shot. Using that load, the kick is very mild. H&R, by the way, is owned by Remington (or what ever company owns Remington, anyway)

Just a question, but other than "just because", why do you have a laser on a shotgun? The light I can understand.

Why a laser? Because it's intimidating... Yes, it gives away a position, but a simple Laser on the chest can cause people to wet their pants.
