I wish that weren't true, but the mindless herd is being driven closer and closer to the edge of the cliff. My goal is to put up a fence so no one can fall off the edge.

Re: RJF founder Will Hayden arrested for rape of minor

The saddest part about this is, we'll never know if he actually assaulted them or not. There is something like a 95% conviction rate for sex crimes here in the US. I've seen cases where the "victim" said the "offender" really didn't do it. Unfortunately, once the sentence is hand...

Looks like a good place to wait for membership...guess I'll have to find another place for the mean time. This new 10/22 is begging for some range time!

Lafayette Gun Club

I have been looking into the excellent suggestions for ranges and such in my "Moving to VA thread" and Lafayette Gun club has me interested. Is anyone on here a member? I noticed you have to be recommended by a current member in good standing, which I am sure will come in time and I like t...

Re: Military dependent and firearm purchases (TX DL)

Thanks for the info, looks like I need to take as much with me as I can. Bills are no problem, plenty of those coming in LOL. Copy of the orders is easy and I have a Military ID as well. I'll post here when I decide to give it a try and let you know what the outcome is. Thanks again!

Military dependent and firearm purchases (TX DL)

I wanted to do some research concerning buying a firearm in VA being that I am a military dependent and I have a TX DL. My wife is the active duty member and her orders do show me on them. I would assume I need to get a VA DL and that will be the easy route. Are there any other options? I'm not quit...

Made it to VA in one piece! Drive was 4 days and a blast and we are now in a rental house. Already been checking out some of the BBQ joints and other places that you guys have mentioned in my thread...life is good! I am in Newport News BTW

Re: New here from TX and about to transplant to VA

If anyone can give me some advise on what I need to get done. We will be staying on Langley until we get a rental home. I called the base police and asked them about firearms on base and they said we would have to be escorted to the armory and they would be stored there until we find a place. I real...

Re: New here from TX and about to transplant to VA

Good info, thanks! Less than a month until touchdown, I am really looking forward to it! :welcome: Convenient to Langley with good schools are Poquoson and the south part of York County. Williamsburg is about 30 minutes in light traffic, Glouster Point is about the same distance and has a toll bridg...

Re: New here from TX and about to transplant to VA

Wanted to bump this up. My wife received a report date of April 30th, so we are going to be leaving a little before that. It's gonna be about a month or so before we get settled and find a rental house. I am wondering about the laws relative to traveling through Arkansas, Tennessee to VA. I will hav...

Re: New here from TX and about to transplant to VA

Awesome! I love the free and public range idea since Austin, TX is insane concerning gun ranges. The city will not authorize any new ranges for many years now. It's a battle between the left, right and teaparty here...too many politicians for me. I have one range relatively close to me that's outdoo...

Re: New here from TX and about to transplant to VA

I've been looking into different BBQ joints and shooting ranges in the area and I am excited about this move. What kind of meetups happen around the area for shooters or just to hang out? There's some good BBQ joints, but most are different than your use to in Texas. This is pulled pork with vinega...

Re: New here from TX and about to transplant to VA

So I have some more info as to where we will probably be living, no solid date yet. We are going to be focusing on finding a rental house in Poquoson, Gloucester Point or Williamsburg. Any other suggestions for that general vicinity? I will be attending the community college there to get basics out ...

Holy cow you guys are friendly, I really appreciate that. Looks like we are going to be moving around the April/May timeframe if everything goes as planned. I am thinking I will be at a point where I can venture out around May. I really look forward to meeting some of you guys!

Re: New here from TX and about to transplant to VA

Good info! I may indeed PM anyone that's in the area for some info and to meet some like minded people. I can't wait to experience the area since I love shooting and fishing. I think I'll need to gear up on tackle since all I have is a medium action pole and I know there are some big fish in the wat...

Thanks! I am infinitely interested in the East coast and New England area, so this should be a 6-year adventure.
