Re: AR15 80% Lower build, legal in VA?
The 80% lower is not considered a functioning firearm, therefore it has no serial number. It is up to the individual to put on it, and while it is not required, it is highly recommended to avoid trouble. You may not get convicted for it, but do you want the expense of attorney's fees and court appea...

Large Bore- NOT an 'assault rifle'
Just got the call, and the barrel blank for my .416 Taylor project is on the way!!! Got a 1918 Spandau 98 action I have been saving, and a walknut blank I have been saving for it. Happy dance! It's all coming together.... slowly. Mechanic's cars.....carpenter's house......cobbler's shoes......gunsmi...

Re: 7.7x58mm Arisaka Ammo
Hey no problem. If you can't come up with anything else, I'd be glad for you have some or all of the handloads I have since as I stated I don't have a functional 7.7 anymore. Mine is going to become a 7x57 with a butterknife bolt handle. I was thinking Prvi Partisan did it, because they do the brass...

Re: 7.7x58mm Arisaka Ammo
Hornady is your best bet, I have some reloads, brass and bullets and such. Problem is the only 7.7 I have is getting a makeover. The action is good, but the barrel is bad and the mum is ground off, and bubba drilled and tapped it and tried to bend the bolt handle. I have an old Norma box from so far...

Re: .50 Beowulf
Well- having worked for AA as lead gunsmith/QC inspection, I got a LOT of experience and the chance to shoot the heck out of them, as well as pick up a lot of 1x fired brass :) Also I am set up to buy/sell new brass with my little bitty custom shop business, so I can shoot when I want. I got a histo...

Sorry friend, don't know anyone from that area. Let me know if you don't find anything else that satisfies. I'm sure we can make something happen.

Re: Front sight on Mauser M48
A lot of the Yugos were 'thrown' together, despite being nice most of the time out of the box, they assembled so-so. How does the rear sight look? It could be a tolerance stack of the two being out in opposite directions, check them both. Also check for severe stock pressure on the barrel, that coul...

Re: .50 Beowulf
The Beowulf is a real thumper. I love the effin things so much I got three.... not to mention I built the heck out of them for three years. Loads of fun, coupled with a lot of thunder and lightning. They put a lot of thump in the hands of a commoner, and allow enough energy and destruction to pretty...

Re: Soliciting opinions
Unfortunately, right now, either or may be difficult to come by, especially at an uninflated price. Good luck though, patience pays in this business/hobby. One will turn up, I waited 15 years to find one of my rifles, in the caliber, condition and price that I wanted!

Re: Soliciting opinions
Dormin, hard to go wrong with a Kalishnikov if you don't already have one. The AK platform brings a lot to the table, reliability, decent accuracy, and above all- it is cheap to shoot in comparison to an AR-10. The AK has a lot going for it, it is the combination of a Remington, Garand, and German M...

Re: Duracoat/heat treating professionals
I am a certified Dura Coat applicator, however I am not in Richmond. But as far as the heat treat goes- I don't know what to tell you. What grade of steel is it? What do you need to achieve with heat treating?

Wythe County
I tried posting this already with no luck, I hope it doesn't post twice, my aplogies if it does. Anyway- I'm from Wythe County, down in the mountains. I was a gun enthusiast from birth and that grew into the same. I started helping my Cousin out in his gunshop after high school, doing the easy stuff...
