Re: Can you hunt deer with semi-auto in VA?
To be honest, if I see someone walking around in the woods with an AK-47 deer hunting I have to question their seriousness and dedication to the craft. How they can walk around with a banana clip snagging on brush all the time is a mystery to me. In all seriousness, you won't need more than one maga...

Re: Looking for FFL dealer for transfer in Alexandria
VA Arms has now raised their FFL prices to 32 dollars.
Call them prior to having stuff sent there.

Re: gilbert's small arms Lorton/Springfield
more welcome? yeah - they want your money and after you join they change the rules and give you the run around - there is ZERO customer service there - I sent an email to the owner weeks ago - still no response - oh and the problem about a hot range going away in the fall is simply not true - when ...

Re: dawson's in Woodbridge
Dawson's is an odd duck. I have yet to not find a wierd batch of ammo for any of my older guns that I shoot there. Handgun Prices are the highest I have seen in NOVA, rifle prices seem "ok". Transfer Fee of 65 dollars is also high. However, when I was looking for a pound of W231 powder, th...

Re: gilbert's small arms Lorton/Springfield
Saturdays and Sundays are probably the worst times to go right now. WAY too many people. The best times are usually Wed. and Thurs nights. Tuesdays there are crazy, and Friday's a hit or miss thing.Bobtail1911 wrote:Zephyp

Re: gilbert's small arms Lorton/Springfield
I note that Tinygnat219 did not dispute the lack of a/c on the range. That's correct. The air handlers there suck in whatever air is outside, whether it's cold or hot and blow it down the lanes to catch the lead particles. This is why I limit my shooting time in August. I spoke with "Mark"...

Prvi Partizan is good stuff. If it weren't for them right now I'd be sucking wind for .38 SPL and .380 ACP.

VA Arms really is the place to beat in terms of Customer Service. I don't think it's been done yet.

Re: gilbert's small arms Lorton/Springfield
I havr been going to Gilberts (now Sharp Shooters) since joining in March 2009. Yes, the range equipment is improved. The air flow is bad, and it is hot on the range. Why there is little to no a/c is beyond me. I have been there weekdays, weeknights, weekends, the range is not well regulated for co...

Re: Looking for FFL dealer for transfer in Alexandria
Sharpshooters is your best bet for closeness. They charge 40 bucks. If you don't mind a short drive, try VA Arms in Manassas, they charge 20 bucks, probably the best deal in the area.

I was just at the SEG on Saturday. Not a lot of activity there. THey have some huge retail spaces, but are sparse on their inventory.
It looks like a loftily grand facility that's simply not getting the use they envisioned.

Re: Ruger LCR - Lightweight Compact Revolver
Hey! Just saw that Gilberts Small Arms Range (Now SharpShooters? WTF?) has an LCR for rent. I put 50 rounds through it the other day. It's not a bad revolver and the felt recoil is about on par with my old model 60 J-frame, but with a MUCH better trigger pull. I'd say go down and check it out. TJ

Here's the problem you have, not finances, but space. Take the ammo OUT of the safe and bingo, you have room.
Problem solved.

Re: Show off your oldest gun
Very nice...thanks for sharing! Punchie, Thanks! I have a C&R and I have been using it and abusing it (ok, the checking account's been abused, but not the FFL) acquiring these things. Now all I have to do is stump Dawson's Small Arms of the World. So far, they have had at least one dusty box of...

Re: Firearm Unfriendly Businesses in Virginia
I don't agree. Gilberts is much closer to me but I refuse to go there because of that sign, so Virginia Arms and Loudoun Guns get my business. They have no such signs and actually like it when customers carry there, so I feel that gilberst is very gun unfriendly. But thats just my opinion, and you ...
