Well, there was no Aimpoint in my future, but there was no Vortex either. I ended up with an EOTech 512.A65 and I am extremely happy with the decision.

Thanks for all the advice.
I think I'm going to bite the bullet and wait on the Aimpoint.
Think I'll just use a bore sight to sight in the cheap-o scope and salivate over the Aimpoint website.

I'm currently looking at the Vortex StrikeFire. Any other suggestions or recommendations?
Also - do you prefer the open red dot sights or tubes?

Dominion will allow you to shoot frangible .223..... At $25 for 20 rounds... Talk about a great alternative... I just picked up the AR-15 this spring and this will be the first time shooting and sighting it in...

In my experience it comes down to the single action trigger... There is so much less travel, also less tug and pull...
