Re: Scout and Pseudo Scout builds

Thanks Jackie. Having owned a number of Mosin-Nagants before, I can say that those are at about the bottom of my list as a scout platform, primarily because of the difficulty in working the bolt. I've heard people talk about the rare MN with a bolt that's a bit easier than most, but all three that I...

Re: Glock Talk: Your thoughts?

I own one pistol, a Glock 36, for both home defense and concealed carry. My first was a Glock 27. While I carried it frequently, there were times that I couldn't easily conceal it because of its thickness. The 36 doesn't sound like it's that much thinner, but it's enough that it makes the difference...

Re: My new Marlin 60

I love my Marlin 60. I was looking for a .22LR for my daughter a year or so ago when we were planning to attend an Appleseed shoot (ended up not going, though). A gun shop in Manassas had several Mossberg 702Bs for sale, so I went to get us one. I guess they hadn't updated their Web site for a few ....

Scout and Pseudo Scout builds

I'm interested in reading the details on any scout or pseudo-scout builds that folks here may have done, whether based on C&R actions or modern actions. (I'm particularly interested in what was used for iron sights and why.) I'm in the initial stages of mapping out a pseudo-scout build and I'm l...

Re: anyone have some recommended reading?

Old thread, but I've got a book recommendation along the lines of what you described.

"Surviving Off Off-Grid" (not a typo) by Michael Bunker. Just look it up on Amazon and start reading the reviews.

Re: NW VA - Round about Berryville

Doug, whereabouts do you go to propel lead around our parts? I have five acres, but it's not set up well for shooting. Taggure, don't ya know? Bambi done growed up. I saw a preview on one of my kids' DVD rentals for a movie about Bambi as the new king of the forest or some such nonsense. I had to si...

NW VA - Round about Berryville

Greetings, Bought my first gun, a Glock 27, in 1998 and been shootin' on and off ever since. In September 2010 had a dream come true by being blessed to move out of Alexandria to 5 acres a few miles south of Berryville. My goal is to move toward homesteading and getting as far off grid as possible a...
