Re: New Class 3 Inside the Beltway!!
The reviews on Yelp look legit. I visited there once based in input over the phone about having a certain Sig 1911 in stock. Less than an hour later there was none, and there never was one. Thumbs down for me. But heck, maybe I'll give them another look in the new location. Been 2 years...

Re: Chantilly gun show
I might go to get some ammo. Maybe, just maybe, a particular Browning Buck Mark 22LR pistol, but I think I'll have to wait on that. But I might just bail. I was there in November and December, and the latter was a zoo. Parking was the main thing in December. Once inside it was packed, but not too cr...

Re: FFL Transfer Fees in NOVA
Martin at http://www.teutonicarms.com/, works from his home in Lorton, was a pleasure to work with. And at $20 for a FFL (Gunbroker buy), I tipped him $5. Highly recommended.

Re: gun shop frenzy
Damn. Still, it is a statistical near-certainty that it will be harder to get there on a Friday than on Saturday for most working stiffs. But I work only 15-20 minutes away and will be there early and make a beeline to the place (I've got the layout pretty much memorized as it changes very little) t...

Re: gun shop frenzy
I plan on picking up a 1911 at the Nation's gunshow, likely a Sig Fastback nitron with rosewood grips. 1911s should still be available and most are no high-cap assualt weapon wannabees! I'm going as soon as they open on Friday because I think it will be a fricking zoo on Saturday. I hope Friday nigh...

I tried, but they were just too swamped, and I was too ticked off at the time... I truly have zero interest in ever giving them any of my time or money again...dusterdude wrote:Perhaps two or three of you novamites pay the management there a visit and point out the errors of their ways

Re: NOVA Firearms Gun Shop
Great post luckshot. Thanks for contributing. $90! Wow, the gunshop in Fredericksburg had them for $50. I thought that was gouging, but not the "hell with the consequences" gouging of NOVA Firearms...

Re: gun shop frenzy
Stopped by the Doswell gun show yesterday and they were hurting for supplies, it seemed. One vender had only a few .556 30rd mags left and was selling for $50 a pop. Vendors said those were gone after the first hour or so. Moved on to SSG Tactical where they had only two AR-15s left and they too, h...

Re: Are WE going to act or sit back and let it all happen?
My wife is an elementary school teacher. She Jewish, and a flaming liberal. I love her dearly. The thought of arming her at school is ridiculous. Or anyone except LE or trained security personnel. To merely suggest arming teachers is a horrendously BAD idea. For so very many reasons. For one, the co...

Re: NOVA Firearms Gun Shop
Have to provide a negative review. But I am/must. I've been looking for a bobbed 1911 in commander length for quite some time and the buying frenzy of late got me off the fence. I decided on a Sig 1911 Fastback carry with rosewood grips. So, I call 6-7 LGSs in northern VA and, no surprise, nobody ha...

Not all zombies are created equal in SHTF
My 13 YO son and I have had this discussion: there is a LOAD of difference between the shambling, "walking dead" and the full-out sprinting, pissed-off zombies of 28 days laters and the wonderful Dawn of the Dead remake. For one thing, for "walkers", after the initial die-off, ot...

Re: Can a local MD resident come to NOVA for FTF purchase?
joeshmo, thanks for the info. But it is a carbine, not a handgun. The MD shooters legal-eagles said I could legally transport the carbine (in a locked hard case out of my reach) to a pre-arranged (so they know it is coming) FFL/gunshop. They process the weapon on-site and get their transfer fee (so ...

Re: Can a local MD resident come to NOVA for FTF purchase?
This is pretty much what I thought. I won't speculate if it is shady per se, but it won't happen FTF in VA. One suggestion I got from the Maryland SHooters website was we could meet at a MD FFL/gunshop, do a real-time transfer and background check, and if all goes well (no delays), go our separate w...

Can a local MD resident come to NOVA for FTF purchase?
Hello. Per these forums, I live in NoVA and I am looking to sell my Ruger carbine in 40 S&W and extras to a party in Baltimore who has contacted me. Can they legally come to NoVA and we complete a prviate sale with a signed and dated transfer letter for our records (not even required in VA). Or ...

Re: What's going on at the NRA Range?
Robinson huh? I have a niece and nephew on the Robinson Rifle team. I wanted to shoot my new Ruger PC4 at the NRZ range but wait was too long. In the past SUnday afternoons during NFL games I can generally get 30 minutes or less to shoot and that is reasonable. 1 hour to 90 minutes is not...

Re: WTB 40 cal rifle
Good luck, I just found and sent a money order for an excellent condition Ruger PC4 with ghost ring sights, it is nice. But scarce, so I paid about $150 more than I wanted. But having handled a higg point and Beretta Sotrm in .40, I just was not impressed. Well, the HP felt and looked like a turd. T...
