Re: Democrats Pass Gun Confiscation Bill for Those “Accused”

Connecticut is a cautionary tale about what happens when the Democrats face no meaningful opposition in government.

Re: The Dreaded Squib Load

Many, many pistols have been lost to shooters who have tap-rack-bang drilled into them until it is mindless, only to find out on the second shot the reason the round gun failed to cycle was a squib. It can happen when someone is quick firing a string, the squib happens, and the shooter just jumps in...

Re: Scotland - Airsoft Gun Registration or 2 years in jail.

In the US, one fundamental question is whether 'airsoft' guns (the replicas with plastic bbs) are actually covered by the Second Amendment. The root of the second amendment is the defense against an overreaching and centralized government, as Federalist #46 describes. I've heard of a few people who ...

Re: Wounded Warrior Project rocked by fundraising scandal

Charities can be victims of their own success. Wounded Warrior Project started out as a small group here in VA assembling care packs for hospitalized vets, nothing glamorous, but something meaningful. But as a successful charity takes in increasing amounts of money, it attracts corporate exec types ...

Re: Christie endorses Trump

I hope that it isn't a Trump-Hillary choice, but you're right that it probably will be. At that point, I'd probably bolt and vote third party at the presidential level. I'd still vote Republican at the lower levels. That would DEFINITELY be a vote for Hillary. I'd still vote my conscience and live ...

Re: Christie endorses Trump

I don't care for Trump. He is an authoritarian demagogue. Like most halfway successful demagogues, he's selling his followers on generalities to placate frustration. I will go against conventional wisdom and say that he will defeat Hillary Clinton. Trump's strongest fuel is a rabid dislike of a shel...

It's a small locally owned business. I always like to buy locally when prices are competitive.
That's also relatively close to me- I'll check with them and with Gander Mtn. Thanks.

Re: Primers Locally?

Thank you for the suggestions- I may try Gander Mountain first; that one is closest to me. It is about tailoring your ammunition to what you want to do. You won't save much money reloading .38 Special. I shoot very soft, swaged lead bullets using modest powder charges. I tailor my reloads to target ...

Primers Locally?

Does anyone know if there's a place here in Northern VA that stocks small pistol primers? My source used to be Dick's in Falls Church, but they no longer stock them. I'm trying not to have to pay the hefty Hazmat fee to have them shipped.

Savage Model 19 NRA. Looks and captures the spirit of the '03 Springfield in .22 form. Mine is a 94 year old tack driver. Unfortunately, I can't locate a pic of it. But this basically captures it:

Bull Run Muzzle Loaders club shoots the third Sunday morning of every month at the Izaak Walton League range in Centreville. Match runs from 8AM to 12PM and is open to everyone. You don't have to be an IWL member to shoot. There is no match this month (April- Easter Sunday falls on the same day and ...

Re: What is your opinion of Evolve?

It is a political Trojan Horse. There is likely a gun control lobby group or similar using this organization as a front to steal away some gun owner support to have certain laws it wants passed. The last round of gun control law failures on the federal level has likely prompted some of the control g...

Re: Savage Smokeless Muzzleloader BOOM !

I'll admit to having pulled a short start once awhile back. It's a good way to wreck a fine barrel. I got lucky: I had a light target load in and the worst I had of it was a weird sound and a missed target. Paying attention while reloading is really, really important.

Re: Ammo shortage

I have been trying to get another box or two of .45 ACP so I can sight in my 1911. I have a Remington R1 and am fitting retro style sights to it, but haven't scraped together enough ammo to start sighting in. I tried Dick's today and found no .45 ACP, though I was able to buy 3 boxes of .38 Special ...

Reloading

I think this is the year I get started in doing my own handloads for my various firearms. I'm primarily interested in reloading 9mm, .45ACP and .38 Special for target practice. I think I'd also like to reload some .30-30 for my Winchester. Ammunition is getting more expensive, and worse yet, much ha...

Passing the law, and then having it survive any court challenges would be a tall order. That said, it's nice to see some legislators have spines.

Re: Powder Alarm

Yes. There were two other major arms confiscation efforts before 4/19/75 by Gen. Gage, one in Portsmouth, NH and one in Salem, MA. The spreading of the news was not "rumors", it was factual reports sent by express riders who constituted the lines of communication among the several Committ...
