Re: help with an ithica 1911
First site I tried: http://www.coolgunsite.com/pistols/colt%20production.htm By their numbers, it is a 1945 pistol. By my own knowledge the vast majority of gov't issue 1911s were manufactured prior to the end of 1945. Most of the pistols with 6 digit serial numbers and marked 1911s were manufactur...

help with an ithica 1911
recently acquired an ithica 1911. The widows story goes that it was her husbands favorite. He was a wwII pilot and he brought it home piece by piece. When he passed she sold it to a friend of mine who sold it to me at a minimal profit. I am mostly curious if there is a way to get an exact date on it...

Re: Good guys with guns...
That's kinda what I figured the normal case would be but isn't there a single reported instance? Like an old soldier grabbed his garand off the wall and shot a bear chasing his grandson? If iI can't find a single example I lose the argument lol. And I definitely respect your wisdom about keeping stu...

Good guys with guns...
So I'm kinda in a weird debate with a friend that started by discussing the illuminati trilogy by wilson. Anyhow my friend asked if there were any incidents of good guys using assault rifles in a productive manner. "good guys" as in not leo or active duty, just your average joe with an ass...

Re: Overlooked Vintage .22 Bolt Guns???
I picked up a bolt action magazine fed 22 at wallmart for $169. It seemed they couldn't keep the semi's in stock but this savage arms handles the subsonics like a dream. I still have to track down a scope mount for it but the iron sights work nice enough for the moment.

remember that the surp ammo tins with the number 10 in a circle on them are the steel core boat tails which are the nicest of the bunch.

Re: Pelican Case Foam Cutting Project Complete
the case I had to pick up for my SASS, the factory case no longer fit with a scope on it, had upper and lower foam and a center foam that was pre-grid perforated to be cut out to the shape desired. I still need to touch up my cuts some and elmer's the middle to the bottom to prevent shifting. I high...

Re: PVC for storage.
You can get large diameter PVC from most pool supply houses. The bigger the diameter the more it costs and the bigger hole you have to dig. While PVC can be had in sizes 24"+ I think multiple 8" and 10" tubes is a much better idea. That and you can cut 10" with a sawzall much eas...

Re: Knights Armament SR-15
what does the "SR" instead of "AR" designate? Superior Rifle :friends: really? I know SASS stands for semi auto sniping system and REPR stands for rapid engagement precision rifle. Superior sounds kinda off. It's not survival, semi, strategic, etc? If it was called a SAR rifle I...
