Re: Concealed carry in Colonial Williamsburg
DO be careful of traipsing on the College of William And Mary, that would cause a scene I'm sure with those "bastions of anti-freedom" resting JUUUUUSSTTT up the road from where freedom was born (Ironic, doncha' think?) Do they have a regulation forbidding carry? A policy won't cut it. Th...

Re: [C'ville] My first time carrying concealed...
Fairfax County took every day of the 45 days they're allowed by law. And I think I only got it that fast because when I put in my paperwork, I asked the clerk what to do if the 45 days came and went with no permit. She said something like, "Oh, don't worry about that, they usually get them out ...

Re: Poll about College Carry at ODU
Please write them an email as well as voting in a poll. They aren't going to look at an online poll and think, oh gee, we had better not do that! But a storm of contacts telling them what they're doing is wrong, and why, is more likely to stop this. Or at least cost them some sleep. Please take two ...

Re: Trojan Horse of H.R. 822
What does the bill actually say ? Any bill "could be" changed to do a lot of things. But there's a point in the process where representatives are voting on what it is. If it's good, tell them to pass it. If it's bad, tell them not to pass it. There is no way it can be a straightforward rec...

Huh. I've gotten rusty and out-of-touch with Linux, but it looks like RHEL 6 was released almost a year ago. Why the long gap to CentOS 6?

Are Virginia's "dangerous weapon" laws as harsh and goofy as Californias?
In CA, dropping a pool ball in a sock is a felony. Ninja throwing stars too. Who has ever robbed a 7-11 with throwing stars, or nunchukas?

Funny... we can carry into the Virginia State Capitol, and our legislators are "free to serve".
Looks like we don't need a law after all!

I hope you have joined VCDL. Stuff like this will happen if we aren't vigilant. VCDL Lobby Day is on MLK Day, when hundreds of members show up to Richmond and lobby legislators about stuff like this.

Re: Post Office - a big warning sign
The answer is simple. Allow USPS to set postal rates without Congressional interference. Let them charge whatever amount will support their operations. If they charge "too much", then fewer people will use the service, they'll lose money, and will be forced to lower prices. But, obviously,...

Re: Sad state of affairs
I just got back from voting. I was the 125th person to vote at my polling place. I guess we get the kind of elected officals we have because most people don't care enough to vote. Frankly, I think it's a good thing most people don't vote. They don't know what the issues are, they don't know where t...
