Re: Hey, Cali! How's all that "gun control" working for you?
This kid was spoiled from beginning to end. Daddy bought him a BMW. Daddy rented him an apartment in a very nice part of a very nice town. Only thing daddy didn't buy him was a GF, although as Kreutz says, maybe he should have. The kid dropped out of community college, but he didn't have to come up...

Re: 10 Reasons Why You Should Shoot IDPA
How does one begin to participate in IDPA matches? Go to the IDPA site, http://www.idpa.com/, there is a tab labeled compete. From there you can search for clubs/IDPA matches. The Range in Fredericksburg, http://www.indoorrange.com/ , is I think close to you and has IDPA matches a couple times a mo...

Re: We need a hunting mentor..
I just saw this and hope I can help. My son (age 10) and I just started hunting in the last deer season. We've been out several times for small game and plan on hunting turkey this spring as well. My advice is to just go hunting. Don't worry that you haven't scouted out the terrain, you'll scout it ...

Youth Turkey Day (Places to hunt?)
It's me again. The novice hunter with a 10 year-old son that LOVES hunting (and fishing, but I'm an expert there!). I'm taking him out for the Youth Turkey Hunting Day on 4/5 and I would like some advice on where to hunt. I was thinking about CF Phelps, Quantico, or the Izaak Walton League - Alexand...

Re: Schools Preparing American kids For Life In A Police State
Homeschool, brother. +1 to homeschooling. Both my kids are home schooled after spending 3 years in NOVA public schools. My son experienced being pushed and hit by another kid and my advice was to pop him one. He did. We had the principle talk. I told the principle that my children will not be victi...

Nice! The Lego's of the gun world...the AR-15. I have a similar set-up on my SR556 with a Vtac padded sling and bipod. The Nikon p-223 does very well at 100yds, although I'd like to try it out to longer ranges to see what it will do. The Ruger's 1:9 twist limits the bullet weight, but it's my only d...

Apologies for not responding earlier. Kind of busy playing Santa and all that.
We got nothing but wet! It was a good day in the woods, but no deer. We are going to try to get out again next weekend.

Thanks! Merry Christmas to you and yours!
Yes. We are total noobs. I figure we'll do what we can and if we actually get a deer, it's a bonus. Our hunting rules are simple. Be safe (we went to hunter's ed together) and have fun!

Need Hunting Advice for 12/23 (NOVA)
Very new deer hunter here. I've been hunting once this season and I have the opportunity to go again this Monday, 12/23. My 10 year-old son will also be coming along as he did last week! My question is how will the coming warm spell impact deer movement? The current forecast shows it being warm on S...

It won't be soooo bad. Right guys? Didn't Macawful promise, "If you like your gun, you can keep it." Seriously. Patrick Henry is turning over in his grave and I'm looking for jobs out west. A totally self serving effort by libertarians in cohoots with the Obama/Clinton machines. Als...

This is kind of crap that convinced us to home school our children. My son and daughter were being taught more about Caesar Chavez than George Washington. This in Prince William county which is a half an hour from Mt. Vernon. The schools, which are run more like prisons, are just commie day care cen...

Re: New SR556 Carbine
UPDATE: The only think I am looking out for now is the carrier tilt on the buffer tube. even then though, aren't buffer tubes about 30 dollars to replace usually? There's no carrier tilt with the Ruger piston system. There may have been several years ago when the SR556 came out, but it's a carrier ...

Re: New SR556 Carbine
38superfan, what piston setting did you have it on when you've shot this types of ammo? The UMC now works fine on piston 2 but will not lock the bolt carrier back once the magazine is depleted. On piston setting 3, it will fire UMC, Wolf, and Tula just fine. [ Post made via Mobile Device ] http://v...

Re: New SR556 Carbine
I've owned an SR556E model for several months and there have been no major issues with any of the ammo that I've used. The manual describes that brass should eject straight to the side if the piston setting is correct. That being said, I think the 55gr UMC .223 ammo never actually ejected straight t...
