Re: Is this a "straw purchase"?

Been a while since i was on this forum and I just read this thread. This poses an interesting question. I was in a gun store about a year go, and a guy wanted to buy two identical shotguns. One was for him, and one was for his business partner. They liked to go hunting together. He told the employee...

Gun show promoter web sites down

What has happened to the C&E Gun Show and Showmasters web sites? They have both been down for at least several days now.

Let's suppose...

Let's suppose that somewhere down the road, the anti-gun people finally get their way. The Supreme Court decides we no longer have the right to own guns of any kind. You are now required to relinquish your weapons to the police, and ownership beyond a certain date is a felony punishable by a minimum...

Re: NRA shoots gun owners in the back

I'm afraid I am still as lost as I was before.

Re: NRA shoots gun owners in the back

This issue lost me from the start. Can someone explain very simply and briefly what transpired that has gun owners and NRA members up in arms with the NRA? The articles I have read thus far aren't very helpful, and none of the posts above helped me either.

Thanks!

Re: Restaurant Carry Bill signed into law!!!!

I am very proud of this decision by our Governor. I have no problem with the "no drinking" aspect of the law. I'm not a believer that one should be mixing alcohol and guns. You just KNOW that if you had even one beer and had to defend yourself, the prosecuting attorney hired by the crimina...

Re: Richmond Gun Show @RIR (Showmasters) 4/10 - 4/11

Oh yeh! I heard all that clapping but couldn't hear the announcer and what she was saying beforehand. As I stated in another thread, I had gone home and come back because a vendor had erroneously not given me back my credit card, and they left it at the desk. When I approached the desk, some guy and...

Re: Caliber questions

Diomed, yours was good advice. But I thought I was doing just that - starting with the basics. And I don't know one caliber from another, so I thought I ought to learn the differences. And I quickly got overwhelmed with confusion. Then the grain issue arose, and the +p, and the +P+. Mindboggling! I'...

Re: Caliber questions

A "greet and shoot"... Talk about a newbie - I don't know anything about those, or where they're held!

Re: RIR show this past weekend

Funny - I bought some stuff from one of the vendors and used my credit card, and amidst all the talk with them, I neglected to get it back from them. I drove all the way home, and they called and told me to pick it up at the main desk. So, I went back, walked up to the desk, and there was a man at t...

Hi all

New to this forum after the Richmond gun show yesterday. I'm also new to the gun scene. I haven't shot a gun since I was a teenager, and just now am at the point where I can finally afford the expense of gun ownership. I bought a Ruger SR9c 9mm, and a Ruger LCP .380 recently. Not necessarily a Ruger...

Re: Caliber questions

Wally - I'm still confused about grain. You stated it's usually not the amount of gunpowder, but the weight of the bullet. But, many people when they talk about grain say that a particular grain is too "hot", which tells me grain isn't referring to the bullet. Bullet size wouldn't have any...

Caliber questions

Hi all! Just joined the forum after seeing advertisements at the gun show in Richmond yesterday. By way of introduction, I'm a newbie to the gun scene, but have been reading and researching extensively. I'm a member of the NRA and have a CHP, and just purchased my first handguns in the last couple o...
