Re: CHP Questions

I would recommend some light reading. The code of Va seems to say that if a sign is posted and youviolate that sign, its trespassing, it's a Class 1 misdemeanor. http://law.lis.virginia.gov/vacode/title18.2/chapter5/section18.2-119/ I'm on my phone or I would find some other links too. I don't thin...

Re: CHP Questions

I'm not a lawyer... so there's no charge for my advice. LOL "No Weapons" signs DO carry the force of law. I'm not an attorney either so ... It's my understanding that signs do NOT carry the force of law in Virginia. It only becomes tresspassing if you are asked to leave and you refuse. ht...

Re: Pistol barrel threading

Nope, it's perfectly legal to have a threaded barrel. There are a few weird caveats to be aware of: https://vacode.org/18.2-287.4/ § 18.2-287.4Carrying loaded firearms in public areas prohibited; penalty. It shall be unlawful for any person to carry a loaded (a) semi-automatic center-fire rifle or ...

The Chessie Nature Trail in Lexington has a "NO FIREARMS" sign.

Anyone know how to let VCDL know about it?

Virginia "No Preemption" question re Open Carry

I was in a class yesterday and the instructor stated that various locations, specifically "Culpepper" & "Richmond", had passed statutes prohibiting open carry in those locations. When I asked about the "no preemption" clause, he said that there were statutes passed ...

Re: Need advice on moving to Manassas area

Hi folks, I currently live in Chantilly and am looking for advice on areas in which to search for a decent apartment. I don't know much about PW County, except that Manassas seems reasonably priced but has a reputation for some sketchy areas. Can anyone tell me sections of the community which shoul...

Re: Interesting video series on self defense

We've all been to the range and maybe even taken defensive classes but I've always wondered how they work in the real world. I found this video series that show real world scenarios such as ATM robberies, car jacking etc. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WpmBJjZkSbk&feature=youtu.be These are rea...

I bookmarked the report, but haven't had a chance to read it yet. For those who want to take a look: http://www.nap.edu/openbook.php?record_id=18319&page=R1 I did a quick look and noted whatever caught my attention: Priorities for Research to Reduce the Threat of Firearm-Related Violence PREPUB...

OK, I'm a month late and off topic, but: I took a class back in January (http://www.fpftraining.com/) and they specifically ban Serpa or other similar latching holsters from the class. Why? Because the latch release mechanism ...

Don't stop trying, just expect that your success rate will be very very poor. I've had small successes by taking the approach of offering to let them explain to me their position so that I can learn from them. Conversations often run along the lines of: "Assault weapons should be banned ...&quo...

Re: Just some rambling

All of the financial arguments, independent of party affiliations, dance around the fundamental concepts. To be fair, they do this because the reality is a harsh sell. Two key concepts to listen for: DEBT: This is how deep of a hole you're in. DEFICIT: This is how fast you are continuing to dig. The...
