Re: Marlin 795 or Ruger 10/22
To resurect an old thread, I like the Marlin 795. I see alot of Ruger 10-22s and a lot of Marlin 795s. The Marlin is more accurate than a stock Ruger. If you want to Barbie the gun, go Ruger since there are many more accessories for it. The marlin is just a shooter. Neither comes with good sights. G...

Re: best rimfire for under $150
As someone who never sees used Ruger 10-22s (new ones do not come in under the $150 discussion), I reccommend the Marlin 795. Cheap, light, super accurate and actually does cost less than $150. They survive Appleseed shoots.

Re: .22 Pistol Recommendations
Let me throw a monkey wrench into the discussion. I know you have already purchased the SR22P. Check out the Browning Buckmark. It is a bit lighter than the Ruger, every bit as accurate, and with a more comfortable grip, making it a nearly perfect plinker. Like the Ruger it will eat anything. I do r...

Re: CZ 452 Military Trainer
It will be a great shooter right out of the box. The trigger on a 452 can be improved but it is no way a bad trigger. Shoot it as it is, you will enjoy it.

Re: Upcoming Gun Shows and Events Ticker
Thanks, will do. I am concerned that our draw is usually greater than just a single area of the state. Driving less than 3 hours to an Appleseed shoot is rare. Just not enough ranges to spread the love.

Re: Handgun Hunting in VA
It has been awhile since I looked it up, but I believe that for handgun hunting deer in Virginia you need a weapon of over 350fps energy. Hot 9MM, all .45, .40, 10MM .357, .44, 41 and any of the "monster" loads should qualify.

Re: LE Mags legal to use in VA?
+1 to the last post. He finally answered your question. Hold over from the "Assault Weapons Ban" now long expired for most of us, thank goodness. Only an issue in states with high capacity limits. Rather than stop making them entirely, they marked them for LEO use. No legal issue in Virgin...

That is us. I had misidentified the Kimber as an Eclipse. Give us a holler the next time you are up this way as we have other options on places to shoot rifle.

Re: Ft Lee Range
If that was a Kimber Eclipse, my wife and I may have helped you with the break-in. We were to the right of you with among other things, a Ruger LCP that you might have tried out. We enjoy the Fort Lee range and have taken groups down there. That Kimber was SWEET! We still remeber shooting it fondly....

Re: Testing before buying - Ruger LCR
Like any very light weight gun it can be a little "snappy". Trying it out is a good idea. If you do not find a rental, those of us who own them love to share them. Some one up your way would probably meet you for a shooting session. If not, come down to Richmond.
