I think it is a non-issue. If his mother was a U.S. citizen at the time of his birth (I'm pretty sure she was), then it doesn't matter where he was born. Could have been Timbuktu. He is considered a natural born citizen. My son was born in Korea and he is a natural born U. S. citizen. I'm just sayin...
