You can't go wrong with an 870. Over 10 million sold. Versatile, durable, easy to operate, modestly priced.

In my experience 2"- 4" vanes made no difference in accuracey. Your bow however may respond differently. I would recomend you purchase one or two 2" vaned arrows and test them yourself then make a decision wether any amount of improvement justifies the expense.

If possible, hook up with someone you know with some experience. Watch TV huntiing shows about turkey hunting. Check out the NWTF website. I didn't weigh it, the beard was 9 1/2 ". We are blessed with a lot of nice birds around here. I have passed on about 10 shots so far this season (including this one once).

Always be prepared.

Started as a turkey hunt. I found myself in the middle of wild hogs.

I love those things, but the pickins have been slim here this season.

When stopped at a routine highway checkpoint (which they frequently do in this county) I routinely show my drivers license and I am waved through.
If I were to be singled out or stopped, I would hand the officer my drivers license and CHP only if I were armed (which is always).
