"Out of Calibration" voting machines

I'm just curious if anyone here has heard of ANY 'calibration' problems resulting in D being switched to R? Every time I've seen it reported so far, the errors have been one-sided, switching R votes to D. Then again, I don't follow the liberal news blogs. Accepting the idea that machines could be br...

Re: Ebola

Considering that the response to Patient Zero in Dallas lacked even the most basic response for pandemic prevention, the notion that this is an engineered event is becoming all the more likely. http://www.shtfplan.com/headline-news/gov-emergency-manager-ebola-outbreak-is-being-conducted-on-purpose-...

Re: Ebola

Well this outbreak has become very personal to me. A good friend who is a native Sierra Leonean, living in Freetown, has a NEXT DOOR neighbor who just died of Ebola. This is like a week after they shut down everything for three days, so that health care workers could go door-to-door inspecting. They...

looks like they cornered another 'prepper' in Fla.

Just spotted this on the wires. Some 'doomsday prepper' with guns and supplies buried around his property. Manhunt on in Florida. Sounds like a typical overreaction scenario to me, but have a look: http://www.baynews9.com/content/news/baynews9/news/article.html/content/news/articles/bn9/2014/6/17/fb...

Re: McDonald's will support minimum wage increase

...... the working class will see no net change in spending power. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> ...higher wages will rise more than lower ones....as these higher wages spread upward in the wage scale and are reflected in the cost of goods and services, inflation will in fact reduce the purchasing power ...

Re: McDonald's will support minimum wage increase

Simple logical experiment: Since companies are not in the business of losing money, they must raise prices on goods & services to compensate for the increased cost of labor. Who will be hurt by the increased price of goods & services? .....Those without jobs, and those on fixed incomes. The ...

Oppressive state park experience

After church on Sunday we headed out to Andy Guest State Park, which is on the Shenandoah River just south of Front Royal. It was a fine example of govt overreach in action, and it was really irritating. First up, getting into the park was a challenge...maybe 10 cars ahead of us in line to pay their...

Re: HEY OLD GUYS! Did you wear ribbons with fatigues?

Air Force greens were phased out sometime around 1987 - 1989. For a while, you could still wear your greens as long as they were serviceable. Never much liked the BDU's which were heavy and hot in the Mojave sun. We were allowed to alter the greens into short sleeves, which was a bonus....but not th...

Re: The third-party trap

Hopefully as the GOP walks away from its conservative stance (immigration, debt, healthcare), plenty of opportunity for common ground can be found. Libertarian, Tea Party, even Constitution Party.

Re: The third-party trap

More and more it seems to me, we don't really have a two-party system. We have Democrats, and Democrats-lite (GOP). I look at the Tea Party, or the Libertarian Party, as the only real counterbalance. The more we cling to the Reagan-era GOP, which is long gone, the more we look like modern democrats ...

Cheap Christmas underwear

I'll try not to make this a soapbox, but it appears that cheap imported goods have now hit me where I feel it the most -- underwear. Being a guy who doesn't seem to have a very long wish list at Christmas, socks and underwear are always a safe bet. We've seen the sock industry spiraling downhill now...

Re: Why are we pursuing a known failed system

I look at the predicament a little differently. History has shown that man's natural tendency is toward evil and self-destruction. Only in Christ has man been able to develop the ideals that made this country great, which when you think about it, was the first country to break the dictator / monarch...

Re: First 3D printed metal 1911 showcased

I've used SolidConcepts a bunch of times for prototyping projects in my job. They are top notch. AlanM is right, direct metal laser sintering produces a rather rough part that has heavy 'supports' on it to keep it from deforming during the build. These supports must then be ground or machined off, n...

Re: Tell me about West Virginia

Problem with West Va. is the unions and old-style blue-collar democrats still have so much influence; a holdover from when coal was so huge in W Va and the Northern border close to Ohio looked just like the Ohio hotbeds of unionism. Yet surprisingly all of the counties in WV on that map were red. I...

Re: Virginia election results by county

My city tilted Cooch by a whopping 72 votes. I'm actually surprised, lots of 'educators' in this town. At least the surrounding county was solid red. Best news locally was a big-time LIB running for a seat in the General Assembly as a stealth Independent, who got destroyed by the local Tea Party can...

Tell me about West Virginia

I'll admit that for my whole life, I've had my share of laughs and poking fun at West Virginia. Still, living just a stone's throw from the border, there has always been a part of me that envied the natural beauty and the seeming lack of budget and regulation. Now that I'm older and hopefully wiser,...

Re: Uh-huh...

We live in the northern Shenandoah Valley, and it definitely feels like the 'northern frontier'. The cancer that is DC has now spread beyond Manassas. Heck, even the small independent city I live in voted blue. Fortunately all of the surrounding counties are solidly red. If there were a way to cede ...
