Re: It looks like some brandishing laws are going to change

I have always felt that if you are truly in a dangerous situation that is escalating in violence, that presenting a firearm in preparation for defense is also a good de-escalation method. Law enforcement officers present their weapons on the regular basis to be fully prepared and as a control factor...

CHP News - PWC Is on Point!

Just thought I would share an interesting tidbit. A friend of mine applied for a new CHP in PWC, late afternoon on August 6, 2019. My friend got their permit on August 10, 2019! Basically, 4 days. Glad to see that even in the current climate surrounding 2A issues, that PWC is processing and approvin...

Re: Concealed carrying of rifles?

I'm not aware of any case law in Virginia. About 7 years ago, I ask a friend of mine, who was a Common Wealth Attorney, if I could just wrap a rifle in a towel since I didn't have a case for it. He said "Sure, I don't see why not." I told him that I was worried about concealed carry laws.....

Re: Concealed carrying of rifles?

Is there any law that states that a rifle case must look like a rifle case?... According to the code of Virginia, there is no case requirement at all. VA code 18.2-308 weapons must be "unloaded and securely wrapped while being transported..." VA code 18.2-308 c.8 is the only exception abo...

Re: Concealed carrying of rifles?

Just my opinion, but as far as I can tell, carrying a rifle in a backpack is perfectly legal as long as it's unloaded. And by unloaded, I mean no chambered round, no magazine in the weapon, and ammo (in a mag or not) is stored in a separate compartment of the backpack (such as a different zippered p...

Re: A Cautionary Tale...

That's a wild story. I have to say, I am not one to stand-by an watch people get hurt, but I am not immediately going to my gun. While sometimes split seconds can mean life or death, there are a lot of options between cruising down the street and shooting someone (in this case brandishing). I broke ...

Re: When it Cools off just a little.....

I need about 2 weeks notice, if possible... miss coming down. Working 60+ hours a week is cutting into my range time.

I did. But I sold them all. Nothing left to list. Now I just rent when I want to target practice.

Re: DGU in The News

Why do some armed robbers insist on using BB guns, pellet guns, and toy guns to rob people? Do they not understand that they are bringing a toy to a gun fight? “No one points a gun at me and gets away with it.” Yep, I agree.   That's awesome! True Cowboy Way.

The reason no one is taking your bet is because part of a bet involves speculation. There is no gamble in a sure thing. :hysterical:

Re: It finally happened, I had to pull.

You can find a good used 25 auto for under $50, if you're looking for one. As H mentioned, no shame, something is better than nothing. I would rather drive a Gremlin to work than ride the bus... but when you can afford a 458 italia, you are more likely to buy a new Mustang as a commuter car than a 5...

Re: It finally happened, I had to pull.

Makes sense... but I am talking G17 vs. P226 Legion, not a HiPoint vs.... well... anything. LOL Glocks are really reliable and mine performs like a rock star. I doubt I would gain a defensive advantage carrying the SIG. Since the Glock is $400, is very accurate and reliable... I'll let them take tha...

That is why I carry a low price point gun for self-defense. I honestly would never expect to see it again.
