Ever read People's Pottage?

Anyone ever read this book? http://mises.org/store/Ex-America-The-50th-Anniversary-of-the-Peoples-Pottage-P426.aspx It is a very good read, if you read critically. This is not a book to read casually. More than likely you won't agree with all of it, but it will challenge you. While the details are o...

Re: Kimber vs. SA Loaded

DK, I read through that thread last night. I am not as swayed as others. I think manufacturers are in the market to sell guns, not necessarily to support any political process. I do not fault Kimber for working with the CA LEO organizations. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. Mine is that some ...

Re: T&R Firearms & Shooting Supplies in Warrenton

Never did hear back from Mr. Drinkwater via e-mail... He gets a lot of spam and has a filter. If you haven't done business with him before, it is likely your email got filtered. He usually is very prompt with returning emails (during his business hours). Call him and see if your email was filtered....

Re: Glock sight pusher tool for loan?

Did you ever get the sight adjusted?

Banging on it works, but it can be difficult to get a small adjustment perfect. I have a tool.

Re: New California Gun Law May Impact Gun Prices

zephyp wrote:I own a Kimber and didnt know this, but have to agree. It would be similar to a gun manufacturer making a special one gun only for bloomberg the twit just for the bucks.

I wouldn't sell a gun I already own because of it, but I won't be buying a new one.

Re: New California Gun Law May Impact Gun Prices

Kimber made a 1911, called the SIS, based on the recommendations and feedback of the LAPD Special Investigative Section (SIS). I believe it was discontinued last month. The point the author is trying to make is that Kimber has gone out of its way to make a handgun in the name of a and for a police ...

Re: New California Gun Law May Impact Gun Prices

Manufacturers have indicated the new law would force them to raise prices of guns significantly, or even abandon the California market rather than go through a costly reconfiguring of manufacturing and assembly processes. Estimated price increases could go as high as $200 per gun. Several manufactu...

Re: Hearing Protection Suggestions?

It is entirely possible that a lower NRR rated plug or muff provides better protection against gun fire noise than a higher rated plug or muff. So is there any data on which NRR rating is best for gun shot noise? I know of no such test and I doubt anyone would bother to be honest. The first problem...

Re: Hearing Protection Suggestions?

You might see a huge diff when using foam inserts and muffs but AFAIK 33 NRR is the max no matter how you slice it...at least that was what I found out when I did some research a few months ago on the subject. When I use both I notice a difference but not that much and I am pretty experienced with ...

Re: Computerized reloading

They are aluminum with a iron oxide coating. Then will just go ping. AND since those are both naturally occurring substances they arent harmful to the environment... :hysterical: Other materials are used. Most of the modern drives I have disassembled has used ceramic platters. See here: http://en.w...

Re: FCM

Call me paranoid, but I just use plain old excel to manage stuff like this. Don't like the idea of SW potentially "phoning home" or said on-line database being shared.

Re: Hearing Protection Suggestions?

I am thinking about the Pro Ears 33 muffs. I have two of these and there are very good muffs. I usually wear plugs when I am shooting long range rifles as ear muffs tend to get in the way...these a little more than most as they are large. They use 4x N batteries which are not cheap (camera section ...

Re: newb reloader

What equipment are you using? Knowing what you use can help everyone give good advice. E.g. I use Dillon dies and a Dillon 550 press, so my crimping is done after the bullet is seated with a separate die; this is different than the advice above concerning crimping because they work differently. Max ...

Re: Kids Shooting

I don't have any children yet, but I've thought about it a lot (because I have guns) and relatives have done various things. I know a couple of young children I would trust with a gun way more than a lot of the adults I know...just saying. One of the biggest concerns is that if you have gu...

Re: CCW which pistol...

Concealed carry and guns My family mostly carries Glocks, but my in-laws swear by the XDs. Barrow them and shoot them. Try some quick shooting drills; which do you aim and control better? Between the two I shoot best overall with the Glocks, hence my preference. However, I do find the trigger in th...

Re: Newbie needs advice please ....

My preference would be the Ruger. Not a big fan of S&W any more. Their quality is definitely not like the old ones. Don't get me wrong, they aren't bad, just not what made them a house hold name. On another note... If you care, there is always the politics of a gun company to consider too. Ruger...

Re: Retention Holsters

Thanks for all the feedback. I ordered a Safariland OWB with their ALS retention. I'll see how that works. I would have gone with the Galco but I couldn't find one locally to see how the thumb break works to see if I'd like that. I have a Galco open top for my FN 57, and I like it a lot. Again, I'm...

Re: OC in NoVA - share your experiences

My wife and I have OC in Fairfax quite a bit. I usually don't unless we are at a restaurant, but my wife does all the time. If you are spending money, most places could care less. Generally, most people don't notice unless you are wearing something that really contrasts with the gun. Those that do g...
