Nice!!! What is the standard trigger pull? Here in the Peoples Republic of Assachusetts, it's 10lbs+ We are still waiting for the new shield to get on the approved list, it will be one caliber/model at a time too.

Congrats! Solid gun and a smart holster! When can I expect to see you at the Black Creek Steel Matches?

Black Creek also has Wed afternoon IDPA matches. It's a really good venue to give action pistol shooting a try. Great folks there who welcome new shooters too.
You need clear sights, a controllable trigger, plenty of training ammo and an outlook that doesn't seek gear solutions to skill problems.

Thanks for the congrats everyone. Is there one this Wednesday? Do I have to be an IDPA member to shoot or can I just shoot a match and not officially rank?

Unless the weather forecast calls for rain, they will have the match. You don't have to be an IDPA member to shoot the first match. If the match is called off, it will be posted on this list server Wed morning.

http://sports.dir.groups.yahoo.com/group/VAIDPA/

I'm going to try and make it this Wed. Shoot me a PM if you plan to go as well.

I don't think it's a good idea to put that online. WHO KNOWS who's checking? I love big-caliber and longe-range rifles and 1911 pistols, and I've got a few.

Next Firearm:
I can always use another 1911.

Shot IDPA for the first time yesterday, it was a blast! Definitively very challenging and good practice. Thanks to Chasbo00 for inviting me and showing how it's all done. I even got to shoot a little steel before I left. I'll definitively be out there next time I'm off and they have a match.

I'm always trying to get young shooters to give competition shooting a try. I've seen more than a few give it go and let me tell you all that Jake has the talent to become a top notch competition shooter. He was shooting his M&P for the first time and there is no way he looked like someone shooting his first match. He looked like an experienced shooter with good speed and especially good accuracy. Way to go Jake - you did that pistol proud yesterday! I look forward to seeing you at the steel match next month. I think we got you hooked. :)
