Unfortunately it's been awhile since I've been able to mosey on down to the range for some fun and now that this heat wave is over and back into the "cool" 80s and 90s I can now go outside without feeling like my skin is going to melt. Went to the local store and after the traditional background check at the cash register (Is this person over 18?) went home with my brand new Daisy Red Ryder BB gun. I know some of you probably have these that are older than I am, but being a kid in communist NY meant the only guns you played with were cap guns or squirt guns.
Thanks to the Va Assembly and Gov Bob superceding local regulations against airsoft/BB guns, I put my target out in my suburban back yard and started plinking. What fun! I got out to 10 yards and that sucker is accurate with no modification of the sights necessary! I have long arms so I was concerned that the shorter length of the gun was going to be uncomfortable but it wasn't bad at all. I took off the leather strip like everyone else does, and think I will cut the loop that the leather strip wraps around because it gets in my way as a leftie.
I already had a brush pile in the corner of my fenced yard and there is a county easement before the fence starts for the house behind me so that should work just fine in stopping any BBs that miss the mark.
Best $50 I spent for the gun, BBs, and the target. If for some reason you don't already own one, head on down and pick one up today.
