are we allowed to cc in restaurants yet?

The Code of Virginia is not preemptible by local statute

are we allowed to cc in restaurants yet?

Postby cigarmanva » Thu, 25 Mar 2010 23:09:50

Maybe I missed it but I haven't heard much about cc in restaurants since the initial passing. Has this become law yet or are we still in limbo?

My attention drifted after the Senate passed it - has McDonnell actually signed it yet?

The Governor has not signed the bill yet, but he is expected to sometime in the next week or two. After that, it will become law on July 1.

It's about damn time, too

Jay, please keep us posted if there is a signing ceremony for these. Might be good to watch if they provide video...

McDonnell doesn't actually need to sign it. So long as he doesn't veto it, it becomes law.

I doubt that there will be a formal signing ceremony for this bill.

That would only give the anti's a photo op to exploit every time there is any kind of gun-related crime in the state.

Right but if he actually signed it and had a little ceremony that would send a strong message to pro and anti groups alike....his merely letting it become law indicates a certain lackadaisical attitude about our gun rights - IMO.

Not until July 1st...

At least our Governor has said he will sign it into law, so no more worries there! Just got it via the VCDL alert!

About 7 minutes into the "Ask the Governor" radio show, Governor Bob
McDonnell confirms he WILL sign the restaurant ban repeal. He also is
dead on when asked about the recent road rage incident in NoVA, saying
that we have laws to punish those who act badly and we should not
infringe on those who are law-abiding with "prior restraint" laws
which take away rights because someone MIGHT abuse them.

Good job, Governor!

BTW, the Governor has until April 21st to sign the 800 bills on his
desk (hence the delay in signing the gun bills). It doesn't really
matter when he signs it - the new laws won't go into effect until July
1 any how.

Way to go Governor... I'm glad to see you come through for the rights of all Virginians. Even the antis can carry concealed in a restaurant if they want - provided of course they have a permit... :hysterical:

Then, maybe we can post their names and addresses on the net...

Me thinks a lot of VA restaurants will have a banner day on July 1!

The irony is, the restaurants will get a lot more business that day and they won't know why! (So long as we don't print...)

Well I am surprised the media hasnt started banging the drum and trying to convince restaurant owners to put up no guns signs. I would have thought we would be able to hear that cry by now state wide...did I miss something.
