Felt weird. The P238 is a little heavier and fatter.

Incidentally, the cops still havent returned my LCP. Good thing I dont need it.

This is why I carry a Glock, daily. Don't want my expensive SIG confiscated. May never see it again.

Am glad it's going well. The 238 is a far better pistol than the LCP, so you're probably better off now. Hogue makes an excellent replacement grip.

UPDATE:

A new prosecutor came on the job late last year. He's a little more competent than the previous one, and decided to re-charge me right before Christmas (barely making the one year cut-off for misdemeanors).
Had to go thru all the nonsense all over again with my attorney. Again they tried to argue that my form of self-defense was not needed for the situation.
Of course, they only have a single witness who could substantiate that one way or the other (the guy who was threatening to kill me), and they sent him back down to Georgia.

Oh, and the lovely young gentleman himself?
http://www.gwinnettcourts.com/casesearc ... LAAhPD+qEQ
he would have been 19 when that murder charge was filed.

He's got about 20 other charges in Georgia alone. I havent yet searched for his Florida charges.

My attorney got me a deal where I stay out of trouble for one whole year and the county drops everything. Its not even official probation, since I've never been found guilty of anything.
I can ask for a trial any time I want. Am tempted to do so but only if I can get that guy back up in Virginia, since he is both the sole witness and the alleged victim.

Still confused they never pressed charges against him for threatening to kill me.
Also wondering why I never see any trials or punishments on the guy. I guess court records dont work that way for inquiring civilians.

Oh, and I still havent been back to the restaurant. No one said I couldnt go, but I realized nothing good has ever happened to me there and thought maybe I should just avoid it.

This sucks. It reminds me of my personal experience in my home country where I was attacked with an axe, I called the cops and I was asked directly how I upset that guy. Cops never came.
Looks like justice these days work more in favor of the bad guys.

Glad to hear you "mostly" off the hook. Sucks that you had to go through the time an expenses.

Actually the learning experience is quite worth it. Now I know how badly the PW courts are run, and I have a fair idea how much you can get screwed without a lawyer.

That sucks. Being an ex deputy in Georgia, courts their have discovered that they can make money selling reports and records behind pay walls. Lawrenceville and Gwinnett county are in on the scheme.

Actually, I just got plenty of info for Free from Gwinnett county.

Looked the dude up by name (the one who threatened me) and it turns out he had a murder charge, which held on for years and finally he was convicted of manslaughter and did about 4 or 5 years for it. He was 20 when he killed someone.
I REALLY wish Virginia had not let him go. I wish they had kept and prosecuted him instead of harassing me for years. In fact I think the only reason they bother with me is because I'm convenient. If I had moved in away in that brief window between March and December I suspect they would have just let it go.

I forgot to post about this earlier. Sorry.

I went back to court after the new DA decided to charge me again. This time he agreed I did nothing wrong and dropped the case entirely.
As of February I am truly free.
Given all the money this has cost me I'd like to track down Christopher Keith Dunham and sue the jerk for everything I've spent, but according to public records he's spent most of his adult life in halfway homes and I doubt he has the 6 thousand to pay me back. Chasing him with lawyers would be pointless.

Oh, and the manager at Hooters banned me, Andy Zapisocki (coolest name ever). I tried explaining to him a man threatened to kill me and I only fired once to defend myself at that was all it took. He said he understood but didnt want me in his restaurant. I never did find out why the video footage of that night mysteriously disappeared 2 days after the incident. If someone had committed a crime at my business you'd better believe I would want all available evidence kept safe. My only thought is maybe the bar cam showed the barkeeper serving the guy alcohol well after he was obviously intoxicated. That could be a genuine legal problem for them. But again its not worth the time and effort and money to pursue with a lawyer.

Something to keep in mind when you are out on the town: Virginians might say they support self-defense but if you ever have to actually use it, you may upset some people. I managed to avoid any serious problems. The court still has my gun though. Working on getting it back so I can sell the thing. Will not carry an LCP again. Too small and light for trusting my life to it.

Glad the ordeal is finally over. Seems like there was a lot of nonsense to wade through and pay for, so I'm glad that you made it out with your sanity.

As to Hooters, they have mediocre food, anyway. If it's the service that interests you, as opposed to the food, there's always Tilted Kilt or Twin Peaks, I suppose.

In the end, what lawyer did you use? In case someone will (hopefully not) need in the future.

Casey Stevens. He charged a reasonable fee and worked like a champ to get the charges dropped.

three and a half years later, I finally got my gun back from the cops.
Had a heck of a time finding where it was and who's responsible for it.
The guy who arrested me changed departments 2 years ago. Now he works down closer to Richmond I think.

Glad you finally got your gun back. It's absurd that it took so long.

If that officer has moved to the Richmond area, it seems that I have one more reason to avoid that area. Wonder if he moved to Dinwiddie? He'd probably get along with the local Sheriff...

That is why I carry a low price point gun for self-defense. I honestly would never expect to see it again.

I'll take a different path. i'll carry what I want because if it turns out I needed to use it, any bank account extras don't matter if I'm not around to spend them

Makes sense... but I am talking G17 vs. P226 Legion, not a HiPoint vs.... well... anything. LOL

Glocks are really reliable and mine performs like a rock star. I doubt I would gain a defensive advantage carrying the SIG. Since the Glock is $400, is very accurate and reliable... I'll let them take that instead of my tricked out SIG worth more than quadruple that.
