Need a Place to break in Shotgun

Postby armory » Thu, 26 May 2011 16:11:23

Breaking in my Saiga 12 and the ranges here in HR only allow buckshot or slugs if they allow shotguns at all. Anybody have any ideas or places (preferably outdoors) that would allow me to shoot all loads through this beast to make sure she is cycling all the ammunition correctly? Willing to travel up to 150 miles from Hampton Roads if need be. Thanks in advance!!

Check out Dominion Shooting Range. I'm not exactly sure how far that is from you but you can shoot any load there. You must use their ammo, but they carry a lot of stuff on hand.

I recommend Chicago southside. Do something like Charles Bronson did...hang a bunch of flashy expensive stuff off an arm or neck...maybe a notebook case and just walk down the street...
No more catchy slogans for me...I am simply fed up...4...four...4...2+2...

I shoot there 2 to 3 tomes a week, very friendly staff lots of range room. Very knowledgeable staff as well, only complaint a bit expensive. For those that like pistols they have 7,10,15,25 and 50 yard ranges all can be used for shotgun or long rifle as well except the steel range (pistol only). For long rifle shooters like myself they have a 100,200 and 300 yard range however to shoot at 300 you must qualify first. To qualify you must hold a 'decent' grouping (typically within 8" grouping at 100) to shoot at 200.
C2 overall rating 4 outta 5 for me. They allow full auto as long as you are lisensed no restrictions on rate of fire as long as you are safe of course.
Let me know if you have any question about it

Did you check at A&P in Virginia Beach,?, THey allow shotguns and I think all types of rounds except those nasty tracers that set the joint on fire years back

Not sure what you mean by "all rounds", OP, but if your referring to the normal stuff, there is an outdoor range in Charles City County. It's operated by the Department of Inland Game and Fisheries (or something like that, anyway). You provide your own ammo and targets. It's free for the remainder of the year. Come 1/1/12, you pay a fee if you don't have a hunting license.

Like I said, if by "all rounds", mean the standard ammo, you're fine there. But, if you want to pop off some bolo rounds, dragons breath, or some other specialty round, I'm not sure how they feel about that.

Camp Allen if your Military, DoD, or Law Enforcement allows all types of normal loads for shotguns. They are being remodeled right now but should be open hopefully by next month. Its in Norfolk.

C2 is a great range but they recently don't allow Birdshot thats what I was told last time I went which was last Saturday. They apparently got tired of replacing the wooden target stands. I would call them up and ask about it though since some of the ROs apparently didn't know they had changed it recently lol.
