There is an outdoor range in Charles City that I go to, but it is for rifles and shotguns only for now. Some dumbazzses shot up the overhead and porta potty with pistols so they shut down the pistol part. I am gonna take my 10yr old there this weekend to do some large cal rifle shooting and you are welcome to tag along if interested. It's only 25 min from Williamsburg on Rt 5

The Marksman range is nice. A bit expensive, but its just about the only game in town.

The nice thing about the marksman is you can also rent different caliber weapons to shoot, they have a nice variety of targets including some nice law enforcement full body targets. The staff is very friendly and informed on shooting. The air is a little thick, especially on the weekends, and the ammo is pricey. All in all , its a decent range. You will see a variety of people there and probably be shooting with some of americas' finest, our military. The phone number is 757-872-4130. You can bring your own ammo, which is what I recommend.

The correct complete address for the Marksman is: 520 Industrial Park Drive Newport News and it is off exit 250 of I-64. Shot 150 rounds there today (6/10/2011) renting everything as was visiting family nearby. A little under $100 to shoot 2 different rental guns in 2 different calibers. Thanks for the post so I could get my fix of lead for the week. [ Post made via Mobile Device ]
