Why isn't the "mark all posts as read button" working?

It's not clearing old posts; anyone else experiencing this?

I'm using IE8 with no problems.

I just go to the board index and hit the link in the top corner above the forum.

I just clicked it and all of the unread icons changed to indicate that everything has been read.

What browser are you using? What happens when you click the link? You should be sent to a page that says "All forums have been marked read." with a link below it that says "Return to the previous page". Does it do that?

I just tried it from work (IE7) and the messages all get marked read, but then when I click on "New Posts", I get 8 pages of posts that have been marked read. I believe I see the same thing at home on IE8.

I havent tried clearing my browser cache and cookies yet.

I am running IE8. "Mark as read" works for all other forums and boards I am on except this one.

Clearly it is something on my PC and not with the site though which was the purpose of my OP> Thanks for trying to help.

I'm running IE7 at work, and IE8 at home. I know this problem exists on my work PC, will double-check at home tonight. I have clicked on "mark forums read", and the icons change, but when I click on "New Posts", I get pages worth, all icons indicate they have been read. Below is a copy-paste from the top of the screen after clicking on "New Posts".

The "New Posts" page doesn't account for read or unread messages - it checks the session cookie in your browser to determine whether you're using a new session, which translates to a "new visit" to the site. I have cookies set to last a long time to help with not having to "re-login" every time you visit the site. If you "Mark all Read", then logout and log back in, then view the New Posts page, you'll see that by logging in again, you have reset your browser session, and the new posts are cleared out.

I'll think about how to work around this and make the new posts page a little more user friendly, but it's not a top priority right now.
