Virginia Gun Owners Forum - VGOF

Is it me or how can I fix it so that these extremely wide posts are readable and not run past the right side of my Monitor? would a 24” wide screen fix it? I'm no so any assistance would be appreciated

I've had the same problem this evening. I think Rick is messing with us. Since he owns the forum we'll blame him.

Can you point at a specific post in which you see the problem?

No I can't. It doesn't seem to be doing it now. The last time I saw it was in this thread carrying/firearm-unfriendly-businesses-virginia-t12-30.html on page 3.

Mine was doing it on Thursday, but it was OK yesterday and this morning.

I'm injecting a long URL into the RSS feed on the right side of the page to see if that does it.

I assume you all who are seeing this issue are using Internet Explorer?

I took out the RSS Feed due to some issues with it. I hope to have it back - I really liked it

Please let me know if you see this problem again. A screenshot or very specific explanation of the problem is helpful.

I am using the "latest and greatest" version of IE, IE8. Just had is forced upon me this week.

I just re-enabled the rss on the right side. A couple of changes... now, only topic titles are displayed since it seems that the description with incomplete links and images was causing problems.

I also changed the RSS so that you can now tell which links you've visited. So, the RSS is like a rolling update of the last written and replied topics. You can use that along with the "View Active Topics" link to keep up with things.

Please let me know if this problem noted in the title is seen again.

Latest one is in Carrying your Firearm - Firearm unfriendly Bussiness.
After looking into it al little further, It is an image that was posted from another URL where one is not limited to size

Do you know what resolution your display is running? Must be 800x600? I test the forum at 1024x768 resolution and it all looks good here.

1024X768, going blind in one eye and can't see with the other. Must be old age

That darned old age will catch right up with a guy, won't it. I wasn't trying to imply anything about your sight - just trying to determine your screen resolution

Can you take a look at this page now and see if it looks any better?

You should give Firefox 3.0 a try. I haven't had a single issue since I started posting here.

Jay, while I would rather not have IE with my dial up it is much easier to keep things as they are. Besides I have the ultimate OS, Vista, hard telling how it would react to something non ms. I'll just keep plugging along with what I have, don't really have much of a choice right now.

So Gary - there are still display problems in IE8 after the changes that I've made today? Has anything changed from your vantage point ?

Only problems I've seen today are in threads with pictures in them. Snakeaters thread about his new guns is wider than my screen. Maybe I need a new widescreen computer. Better yet, a new gun to shoot the old computer with.

I saw this same problem elsewhere and it had to do with the size of the picture being uploaded.

Yeah, well...the externally linked pictures are being resized in the forum...I need to check into IE8's handling of CSS and see if there's an issue there and possibly a workaround. I won't give up until you're seeing things properly.

First step...off to install IE8...

ALright guys... IE8 installed - I DEFINITELY see the problem now. It's IE8 only...now to find a workaround (hopefully!)
