We shall be there with bells on. Okay, so not with bells, but I will be carrying a Remington 700 BDL topped with a Nikon ProStaff for possible sale and/or trade.

Yeah, we went. The prices did vary a lot more than I would have figured. Dark Sun had some really awesome prices. My buddy picked up one of the new S&W Bodyguards in .380 for $389. Everybody else had them for about $500.
I generally take everything with a grain of salt, but one guy offered me $200 for my rifle. I had offers all over the map, but never had any trade offers that I felt like biting on.
Oh well, we'll try again at the next show.

Yeah, I found a handgun and shotgun I wanted for 20% cheaper than anywhere I had seen from them, and they're based in Richmond unfortunately. Also got accused of stealing a holster that a vendor had put in a wrong spot(because being unable to buy a handgun stealing a holster was #1 on my list of priorities), at least he apologized when he realized where he put it. Awesome day hah.
So rattle my bones all over the stones, I'm only a beggar-man whom nobody owns. Oh, see how words as old as sin, fit me like a glove.
I'm here and here I'll stay.

Yeah, while they offered there product for a lot cheaper than most others, they also offered much less on trade-ins that I witnessed than others. I wouldn't let 'em appraise my rifle. I was already getting frustrated with all the tire-kickers by that time.
I must have failed to read the fine print about having to basically give your stuff away as to not offend others that want it.

Heh, saw the guys with the rifles slung on their back with paper signs, "MAKE AN OFFER" wrapped around the barrels, cool stuff. Maybe when I ditch my NY license I'll see what I can get for my savage arms 30.06 111F, not sure why I even have a deer rifle when I don't hunt lol. Maybe I should keep it just in case.

I have a simple request that stems from this gunshow. I went down to Roanoke without a whole lot planned in the way of purchases, but I went with open eyes to see what was available. My simple request is that when members of this forum go to a gunshow, please handle firearms as safely as possible. I realize that in such an environment a pistol, rifle or shotgun laying on a table is always pointed at some body's family jewels. I have never in my years of being around guns seen a weapon other than a machine-gun go off without somebody touching it and even then the machine-gun had just been fired and cooked off the round that went off. Too many times today, I felt way too uncomfortable with the way people were handling firearms. It wasn't just the pointing them down through rows of people, it was the guy who kept flipping his gun from muzzle up to muzzle down or the guy who carries his gun slung muzzle up and the butt out in front of him. I was very courteous with that person and explained how it might be unsafe, his answer was "But it is unloaded", I guess my telling him that it might hit somebody in the face and knock teeth out was too difficult a concept to grasp. So please, if you carry a rifle or shotgun at a gunshow, carry it muzzle down, its far less likely to hit somebody in the face AND PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE DON'T POINT WEAPONS AT PEOPLE, POINT THEM AT THE CEILING OR IN AS SAFE A DIRECTION AS POSSIBLE. I realize no matter which direction you point them in Roanoke, you are pointing them "at somebody" but the construction of the Civic Center would probably stop most rounds trying to get through the block and brick, at least the first one through that hole anyway.
Of course it is in the last place you looked, your not going to keep looking for something after you've found it.

Probably because they are use to carrying that way in the field. Humans are creatures of habit, sometimes they work for us, sometimes against us. The Americans and Europeans tended to carry their rifles muzzle up to avoid plugging the barrel while hiking over uneven terrain. On dangerous game hunts in Africa they tended to carry muzzle down so the gun could be brought to bear quickly. We tend to carry shotguns this way for fowl. We usually only carry rifles muzzle down when it is raining to avoid water in the barrel. A plugged high powered rifle barrel is serious trouble. Worse yet, you might even notice. IMHO, the "right" way to carry it depends on the situation. A lazily carried, muzzle up slinged rifle is a danger to those behind you in such tight spaces. As grumpy says, you get can get a nasty hit in the face that way. You can fix this by carrying muzzle down or simply keeping a hand on the sling so the rifle barrel stays nearly vertical.
