Took some Marines to the range yesterday

Postby allingeneral » Sat, 31 Jul 2010 13:18:29

There are some Marines who were working TDY in our neighborhood over the last couple of weeks (a 2nd LT, a Sgt and a LCpl). They are stationed in the Republik of Kalifornia, so they don't have much freedom with firearms in real life. They asked for a trip to the range, so we went yesterday to the NVGC and let them shoot off some steam.

It was a really nice afternoon. The sun was shining and the temperature was very comfortable with a slight breeze. The three of them seemed to have an enjoyable time. I'm glad we were able to provide some target practice and some camaraderie with these folks.

Not sure where NVGC is but if you (and/or they) get up around SEG in Ashburn area give me a hollar.

I was stationed in 29Palms CA from 80-83 and there were tons of places on and off base to shoot. It was pretty easy back then to find places to hunt as well. Back in the early 80s metallic silhoutte(sp) was in its heyday and I loaded for a lot of guys shooting TC's and semi-custom revolves (in exchange for work on my restored Mustang:) ) During the week I was usually out on the range for a few hours as a coach/RSO after working the midnight shift. I got really, really spoiled having access to those ranges, including one out to 1000yards (not meters) for my 7mmMag.
