Took my six year old to Ft. Lee shootingToday I took my six year old son with me to the Ft. Lee shooting range. If I would've done my due diligence I would have known that they have an age limit of at least 10 years old. So, I didn't get to shoot with him today, and boy was he bummed out. I can say that the range is a nice one, with well supervised shooting benches. However, after talking to the range master I was told they will not be open for the rest of Feb. due to troop training. They should re-open in March but do not have the written word yet. They still do not have the long range up and going due to army engineers stutter stepping, but they do have a second auxillary range for rifles up to .223 / 5.56 When they open the long distance range it will only be about 200 yards and will have 5 to 6 feet tall burms. There was a fair amount of action today. My daughter's boyfriend went with us and he shot his new assault style shotgun he purchased from Dance's Sporting Goods. My son and I watched him shoot for about an hour and then we left. Bummer about the age limit, but it was clearly my bad. I should've checked before hand. These are very nice and friendly people to deal with all in all.
