Transporting Gun in car loaded without CWP

Postby GmuGuy » Mon, 14 Nov 2011 18:43:21

OK I do not have a CWP and I like to open carry allot. My understanding is that I can keep a loaded gun in the glove box (not locked) I believe the wording is "secured compartment" I have read recently a man was charged for doing just this. Since this is a new law and there are no cases for the judge to interpret the wording what should I do? I don't have the money to push the issue if the sate were to charge me and it was up to me to pay for the defense. Where can I keep my firearm both loaded and or unloaded and would a loaded magazine next to my gun be considered loaded? Any clearing up on this matter would be great
thanks
Brian

I read that, and have been fallowing since this has been something on my mind but, that really dose not answer my question I know that it is legal, but like this kid I don't have the money to fight this case. so Im asking if there are any other options while open carrying in a vehicle

what you're asking for, in reality, is legal advice or interpretation. you may wish to pose the question to an professional, ie a lawyer, who has specific expertise in gun law. there are a few who post here who would be qualified to advise.

I think that thread pretty much covers it all. There is at least one case regarding this.

Thanks guys still fallowing that thread looks like LEO's just need a little more training on understanding the law. this might be a better question to ask. Can I keep my firearm on the passenger seat loaded?
or wear it in my holster?
Thanks
Brian

All things I have read relating to open carry indicate yes you can do either. I do that myself sometimes ,,just set it on the seat next to me and drive on/
