Click here for details -> why does VCDL need my help? Scope for my AR15

Scope for my AR15I am getting a new CMMG m4LE AR 15 soon, and looking for a decent scope at or under $100.
I found this one on cheaper than dirt: http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/ItemDeta ... ku=SCP-337 Its a Leapers UTG 5th Generation Predator 4-16x40. Has any one had or seen that one? Thanks
Re: Scope for my AR15What is your intended use? Short range plinking for fun, or serious competition with long range precision?
Re: Scope for my AR15
You and I clearly define decent very differently. IMO you are not going to find a decent scope at less than $100... perhaps a fixed 4x for a rimfire, but a good variable, for centerfire use. Not at $100. I've looked through a lot of the lower cost optics, and have been fairly disappointed. I would suggest you save a bit more, and get the budget into the $150-$200 range, at that point you can get into a bit more reasonable glass.
Re: Scope for my AR15The main use will be short range practice, 50 yards or less. If the 150 to 200 range is going to be a much better buy, what would you recommend? thanks
Re: Scope for my AR15
At that pricing level you should be able to get into Redfield, Entry level Nikons, Weaver, Leupold VX-1, and others. The redfields have been getting good reviews, and the VX-1 is new, but the initial press is good. http://www.gunsamerica.com/blog/leupold ... vx-1-and-2 I've been a big fan of the weavers for a mid-price optic. I few guns at home wear V 4-16's.
At that distance a reasonable red-dot would also serve you well. I've got a few of these https://www.primaryarms.com/Primary_Arm ... bundle.htm and while _NOT_ aimpoint quality, they are very reasonably made clones of the aim point micro, and they are just a bit (118) above your original $100 budget.
Re: Scope for my AR15If you got red dot, the Bushnell TRS-25 plus a mount will be right around $100 through Amazon.
Re: Scope for my AR15
Personal call, but I think they are low enough quality that I'd almost rather work with iron sights than some o f the cheap optics out there.
Re: Scope for my AR15Thanks, your probably right you get what you pay for. I am going to look into it a bit more
Re: Scope for my AR15keep in mind it is not marriage. You can swap out at a later date without problems. You can have multiple scopes and none will complain. With rails you can mount many and find the fit you like best.
I started out with the trickle down process kinda. Best scope went on best rifle. Better scope replaced best scope on rifle so old scope got moved to second best rifle. Even better scope came along and the scopes trickled down. Having done it this way I learned a fair amount as well. The scope now on my .06 will stay on my .06 as I doubt I could getter a "better" scope as nicely dialed in as it's current one. one of my 22 rifles now sports a scope that is worth more than the gun is as a result from this process. If/when I get my ar-10 I have the bad feeling that the scope for it will set me back more than my ar15 did.. Re: Scope for my AR15I use a Vortex SPARC on my SBR it runs about $200.00. Also run a Eotech 512 and 3x Magnifyer on my other AR, shop around enough you can find the set for about $800.00.
No point in buying a good rifle if you go cheap on the sight. ![]()
Re: Scope for my AR15Wow thanks for all the replies.. I decided to go with a Bushnell Trophy XLT Bone Collector Edition 3-9x 40mm Multi-X Reticle Rifle Scope.
I think this should be a good start, and if I'm not happy with it, sell it and try something else. Cant wait should be able to have the setup next week.
Re: Scope for my AR15
if not happy with it, try it on a different rifle first. My favorite bolt action scope would not swap out nicely with my favorite semi scope and the reverse is true. Any barret owner will tell you how important shock resistance is for a barret scope, which does not mean said scope might not be the sweetest varmint rifle scope your 30.30 ever had. I believe va forums has numerous "shoot and greets", or maybe it's "meet and shoots" throughout the year. The more you test different set ups the better able you will be to find your own style and I only assume any member would happily show off their gear by letting you try it... providing you pay for ammo anyways. I never would have found my favorite pistol model if somebody hadn't put it in my hand while saying "you just have to shoot this.""The deeper sorrow cleaves into your soul the greater it's capacity to contain joy" -DeSade
when in doubt set it on fire.
