I have a Millett 1-4x24 scope on a S&W M&P-15. I want to piggy-back the scope with an EOTech holographic sight. Speaking from experience, are there any suggestions on the "right" model to use? Thanks

Putting a full sized EOTech on a 1-4 scope would be pretty bulky and kind of redundant. your scope has a 1 power setting on it, you could use that for close shooting and the higher setting for longer shots. I think what you may be refering to as an "EOTech" is a actually a something like the:

shown mounted on an ACOG. I know the Docter Optic has a great reputation. If what you really want is an EOTech, my recommendation would be to go for one of the XPSs, They are the most compact of the EOTechs and use a simgle CR123 battery.

I was curious if anyone with an AR had tried or was using a piggy-back optic system. My thought is for a close, quick acquisition sight. I am currently using a Burris P.E.P.R. scope mount that has picatinny rail on top of the rings for a piggy-back application (similiar to the ACOG link). There are a number of systems available and was interested in what had been tried and tested by Virginia’s Patriots. Thanks for the input.

Exactly, with a dot/holo mounted on top you would not be able to establish a good stock weld as it sits to high. at close range it can still be effective. the angled mounts work to but when you cant the the gun the brass will be flying up in your sight picture( you can get use to this with practice) and depending how your weapon shucks the brass you could very well get beaned in the face with some.
