While you all were shootin' and greetin' I was watching my son become a freshly Commissioned Officer in the Worlds Grandest Navy! Taking the Oath of Office from CAPT (ADM Select) Boyle. CAPT Boyle's son, T., was PWB's best bud in the VTCC and is now a, USMC 2nd Lt. Mom, Little Sister, Ensign PWB, PWB's Bride to Be! and Pops (that's me). Receiving his first salute from his Gunny. Afterwards, ENS PWB passed the Gunny a 1922 silver dollar from his grandpa's collection. PWB will serve at the Va Tech NROTC unit until his orders take him to Pensacola for basic flight, then he hopes to learn how to fly Sea (Black) Hawks.

Thanks to your son for carrying on our proud traditions. Tell him to hook up with a good Chief and he'll go far.

Congratulations. My Dad swore me in as a new 2LT in the Army at VTCC in 1989. My Dad being a soon to retire USNA graduate and Commander. Got a lot of funny looks (and Sirs) at the ceremony. That was a long time ago and I remember it clearly, though all of my "buds" who stayed in are retiring or are about to as LTCs... Time flies! Enjoy these moments.
