CHP PermitJust got my permit back in the mail and was surprised it was a flimsy piece of paper...do they send a more durable plastic one at a later date?
If not...is it ok to laminate, to preserve the life of the paper?

Re: CHP PermitSo this flimsy piece of paper is the final permit?
My friend in SC they give them a more durable plastic...similar to a Drivers license.
Re: CHP PermitAny good print shop should be able to laminate for you in 10 minutes for under five bucks.
Re: CHP PermitFlimsy piece of paper is as good as it gets as VA CHP's go. Unless you get it laminated (which I would highly recommend). Then you have a flimsy laminated piece of paper - and that's *really* as good as it gets.
Congrats!! ![]()
Re: CHP PermitWhen I went and picked mine up at the courthouse, they actually had me sign it, and then took it back to laminate it for me...
Doesn't get much better than that!
Framed? Do you wear it on a chain? ![]() Si vis pacem, para bellum.

Re: CHP PermitWe usually bring our laminator to the gun shows and charge $2 for the service.

Re: CHP PermitThe first time I got my CHP, the clerk laminated it for me, no charge. When I got my renewal, no lamination. I went to Staples and had it laminated for $1.00.
Re: CHP Permit

Re: CHP PermitSeeing as how it's harder to get a CHP than it is a drivers license and it costs more, you would think it would come laminated and with a picture but it comes as a flimsy piece of paper. I laminated mine with a sheet I got at Staples but next time I'll take it to the gun show and have it done. Congrats on getting your permit!
Hey Osama, I hope you enjoy your stay in hell courtesy of your friendly neighborhood Navy Seals and the US military.
Tell your underlings we're coming and you leave a light on for them okay.
Re: CHP Permit
I'm moved here recently from NY and it's nothing to get one down here I took the class, went to the court house and gave them my fingerprints and $15 and now the hard part is the waiting for it to get here, lol.
Re: CHP PermitGot mine laminated at kinko's/ Fedex Office. They have business card laminates and he did it in about 8 seconds for like a buck or so
