Ruger 10/22 Takedown

Postby kelu » Sun, 13 May 2012 19:35:16

Can somebody enlighten me please?
I was looking at this:
http://www.ruger.com/products/1022Takedown/models.html
Is this an "assault weapon"? I understand that one of restrictions is the folding stock. Can this be named as a folding stock?

Thanks.

No. it does not have a folding stock. Also, It does not meet VA law's definition of an assault firearm, even if it's equipped with a magazine holding more than 20 rounds because it's a rimfire rather than a centerfire.

"assault firearm" means any (i) semi-automatic centerfire rifle or pistol which expels single or multiple projectiles by action of an explosion of a combustible material and is equipped at the time of the offense with a magazine which will hold more than 20 rounds of ammunition or designed by the manufacturer to accommodate a silencer or equipped with a folding stock or (ii) shotgun with a magazine which will hold more than seven rounds of the longest ammunition for which it is chambered.

You need clear sights, a controllable trigger, plenty of training ammo and an outlook that doesn't seek gear solutions to skill problems.

Yeah, that's a cool lil' take down rifle. I just wish they made it in blue, or parkerized. Not a fan of "silver" guns except in my revolvers.

Well, all 10/22s are silver now, at least the receivers are under the paint. So, your best option would be to do what Ruger does, and paint it.

Go on, get another gun.
